clips started out on road bikes where your pushing big gears or climbing over long distance when you need max pedal effect. on bmx the only advantage is i acceleration (out of the gate out of burms) but you need to practice a new style of pedaling. offset this against been able to put a foot down in the burm or been able to bail out when you need to. either way if you dont set your clips right you risk muscle and joint damage.
