Wow, I really didn't expect such an interest in this frame. The basic story behind it basically is, I was co-sponsored by Blacklite around late 83 until I was pretty much over racing toward the end of 84. My race bike was a titanium Blacklite and I also had a thrasher bike which was relatively the same set up but was a chromoly frame and fork with tuff wheels. In early 84 my buddy DJ's dad built him a quarter pipe and we slowly started riding that thing a lot, and I really wanted a Haro Master. Unfortunately for me, I was still pretty small and a Master frame was definitely a bit too big for a nine year old, so my dad approached Gus who was running Blacklite full time at that point about building me a smaller version. He ended up building two frames, the first one had a taller standover and a larger loop in the back end, plus the back end was way too long, so he ended up making a second one which is the one I still have (he destroyed the other one). I want to say the frame was completed around late May/early June of 84, it was built up and ridden up until December of that year. Unfortunately it wasnt ridden that long, soley due to me hitting a huge growth spurt and I ended up getting an 84 Master that year for Christmas.
As for the details on the build, I know it white Mike Buff Z-Rims with black Comp ST tires, blue MX1000 brakes, the Power Cranks that are still on it with Powerlite Mid sized bars, blue Uni Turbo seat, white Forklifter stem and Hutch Pedals. It was painted with white Imron paint because I really wanted a white Master back then. The fork pegs were cut down Suzuki foot pegs off an RM250, and the frame was built completely out of 4130 tubing.
Bob signed my frame on the 84 Summer tour with him announcing and Rich Sigur and Ron Wilton doing the riding. After the demo they came by the local bmx track where there was an AFA flatland comp in the flat section between the starting hill and the first jump (yes very primative, haha). After the comp I went to ask Bob for his autograph and he noticed my frame and asked me a few questions about it. He decided instead of signing a filer or decal that he wanted to sing the gusset on my frame instead. I was beyond stoked that he wanted to sign my frame, and after that my dad had the frame cleared to preserve the autograph. I know that I'm forgetting something about it, I'll update it when I remember.
