  1. I am not much of a bike tech, and it has been years since I tore one apart and put it back together (roughly 25 or so), so the biggest help I need is in making sure I get the right parts, and sourcing them. I have located the crank bearing set and ?cover nut? which is stamped mongoose as I remember on e-bay, so I think I am good with that. What I am finding on fleabay is that things are going for ridiculous prices! The pedals I had were alloy SR pedals, I have no clue if they were 1/2" or 9/16", seems to me they were 1/2", I am interested in the pedals you have if you could send pics that would be great. I have parts of the headset but the last set I looked at went for $70.00 on ebay. I am missing the stamped mongoose lock nut, the bearings and the lower bearing race. If I remeber there were a couple of washers with tabs that go in there too somewhere that I am missing. I was thinking of getting the Tioga 1" headset as the chrome on my bearing 'cups' is pretty pitted and cheating if I could find the mongoose locknut in decent condition. Do you think this would work? The brake levers were MX two finger style, which I am having trouble locating, and the calipers we Dia Comp MX 1000's which I think I have found. Any help you can offer with tracking these parts down would be great.... I found this for you if you haven't located the blue brake cables yet, maybe it would work..... http://www.niagaracycle.com/product_info.php?products_id=508846 Thanks Again - John
  2. No they are not full cromoly, just the front triangle. I was wondering if you could help me out though.....I still have my Blue Max that my parents bought me new back in '83 I think. Now my son is getting into BMX and I want to let him use his dads bike :-). The problem is my little brother decided to take it all apart about 15 years ago and some parts have come up missing. Do you know of a spec sheet where I can get the proper headset bearing sizes, crank bearing size, chain sprocket tooth# and crank set size? I am missing the brakes, chain, front chain sprocket, pedals, seat and post and crankshaft. I absolutely loved this bike as a kid and I want to see her ridden again :-). I am planning a complete restoration...If you have any questions at all about the bike let me know, many years of riding are etched in my memory and I remember all the details of the Blue Max with fondness.......ahh to be 13 again!
