  1. This was drawn early February of 1980. This was when they moved everything "in house", according to Scot. I'll call him and get more info.
  2. This IS the original blueprint, THE ONLY ONE! Scot still has copies of this for sale.
  3. Hey guys, I just got this back from the framer. It's THE ONE AND ONLY ORIGINAL PK Ripper blueprint. I purchased this from Scot Breithaupt a few months ago. Enjoy!
  4. Jesus criminy! I am almost sorry that I brought this to anyone's attention. While I am thrilled with getting my money back, it seems to me that I may have caused more harm than anything. We know what was done and by whom. PLEASE, LET IT GO, or at least be somewhat civil to one another if you choose to continue this topic. I hope you all have a merry Christmas and a happy new year. Regards, Dean "Booger" Presley PS. Oh, by the way, I just bought a DBIV from a guy Chip Bowers knows. After it is in my possession maybe I can incite a kick ass thread instead of a vindictive one.
  5. Wow! A 'waverly82' reference on a BMX forum! Dean...are you aware of waverly82 on Ebay? Are you a member of the PSA forums too? No I am not. A lot of fake cards out there. I only buy graded cards. PSA is my grading company of choice.
  6. I appreciate it Kerry. While I truly believe you would never intend to defraud a collector, the out come was inevitable. I also collect sports cards. You would not believe the number of people trying to sell fake sports memorabilia. It is out of hand. Fake autographs, people shaving down a card to make the corners sharp, and altering the appearance is fairly common. You therefore have to arm yourself with knowledge and be selective. Which I failed to do in this case! They have card grading services that authenticate a sports card or an autograph, for a fee, to alleviate questionable products. We have all, at one time or another, sadly, dealt with someone listing something on an auction type site that is not quite as the seller claims it to be. Sometimes this is intentional and others an honest mistake. People ate not perfect. There will always be people who try to take advantage of a situation no matter what we do. We, the BMx community, have now armed ourselves with knowledge to avoid, and hopefully eliminate, problems in the future. I suggest that anyone who is purchasing anything BMx that is rather expensive(I don't have a dollar amount in mind), to get detailed photos emailed to them so they can ask the people here for their input. It worked on the museum (although AFTER I had PAID!). Have certain people (a committee perhaps) appointed that have the necessary knowledge to aid a prospective buyer in a purchase that he feels he needs help with. Just a thought. As for the problem of getting large items (ie. frames) to this committee would have to be hashed out, as well as fees charged, if any. We have ALWAYS lived in a "buyer beware" era. Hopefully now we can be better informed and at least try to figure out ways to make problems like these a thing of the past. 'Tis the holiday season, so thanks to all of you who responded to this matter and Happy holidays! By the way, I have a $1000 to spend! I hope Santa brings me some cool shit! Regards, Dean "Booger" Presley P.S. I am still looking for a JU-6 or a round top tube PK. I will just be more careful this time!
  7. No problem. I had no idea that this would go this far,... But maybe it needed to. The reason I (after discussion with Brian and Chip) deleted the thread was because I was getting all kinds of congratulations on such a rare find that I didn't want people praising a fake frame. We were 100% sure it was not real after hearing that it was made for the seller. The bad guy here is the seller, remember that. I want people to continue to collect bikes and make new friends, not piss each other off. Anyway, this collecting thing is WAY cool, and I plan on doing it until NOS parts are no more or they become too expensive (almost there now)! Regards, Dean
  8. Hey guys. My name is Dean, and I am the guy who bought the supposed "JU-6". While I thank Brian Hays and Chip Bowers immensely for their help and knowledge regarding this matter, it was not my intention to cause uncertainty and feelings of mistrust in this hobby. I only started collecting in August. I found a Polaroid picture of my 1980-1981 PK Ripper, the only picture of my bike. It was stolen (like so many were) in 1980 or 1981. After I found the picture, I decided to recreate it. I finished it about three weeks ago. In between, I have two 1982 Floval flyers, and a 1980 JMC Black Shadow. And I just bought a 1980' PK Ripper on eBay! I am thankful that I was able to get my $1000 back. I did have some concerns regarding the frame while I was still in the sellers basement, but a JU-6, what a score! I led with my heart instead of my brain. I am very new to this hobby and I like it more now than I did in August. The BMx collecting society came to my aid (through Brian and this thread) and that only strengthens my belief in the hobby. People who don't know you from Adam spent a lot of time and effort (and lost sleep) to help me figure this whole mess out. Most of you have been collecting a lot longer than I have. Some of you have stories about getting burned by some asshole or treated like shit or lied to during the purchase or sale of anything BMx, but you STILL collect. We seem to have a pretty fucking cool thing going on here, so don't let one or two bad apples ruin it. My older brother at first thought I was wasting my money (I am 47) at first. Now he pulls bikes up on eBay he thinks I might be interested in! I had no idea I was opening up a shitstorm, but the collecting community came to my aid without question. Thank you to all who helped me out, read this post, or just plain likes BMx bikes, 'cause I sure as hell do! Regards, Dean "Booger" Presley Ps. The '79 quad serial #TTTT was offered for sale by another seller, not the JU-6 seller.
