  1. I had a one off titan freestyle bike built by Ken Burleson in 83. My family and his were very close at the time. Man I wish I still had it. Off topic Also, there was one rebel factory mini built by Ken that Brock Bruce still has. (his dad owned rebel) It was built to specs on the rebel factory mini frame I was racing at the time. In fact contrary to popular belief, rebel did not even have a mini frame until 83. I rode for the factory team from 81-83 and running a gt frame with rebel decals. Interesting history
  2. Yeah I know...Brock Bruce is a friend of mine. I got him on here to clarify some things on that thread..Interesting though..my dad was racing for rebel also, he was riding a gt cruiser with rebel decals as well. We are heading out to the US open next week in CHula Vista..my dad is meeting us there, I will get all the details he can remember.
  3. Wow..you just blew my mind...I see your point. I will have to ask my old man WTF? I do remember breaking that GT frame at Friendswood bmx one night...but we went to hutch soon after that..could be that I was riding a Blazer for a short time and didn't know any better. I will see if he can remember the details.
  4. It's a GT. My dad built it with the help of Charlie Bruce (Rebel owner at the time)1982
  5. Here is the Rebel pic...yeah this bike was trick.....but not likely the 10 lbs Dad claims...we just didn't have the materials we have today..although it had extensive machine work on it. My dad and his buddy Bill Kelly spent countless hours in the machine shop making parts. I don't know if you noticed or not, but the bike in the top photo is definitely a Rebel. The geometry, forks and Blazer "style" chain stays & drops are a dead giveaway. By the way, great photos! If your talking about the pics I posted of me in the rebel gear (rebel decals on bike).....it is not a rebel. It's been confirmed. Rebel didn't even make a mini until later.

Here's one of my little guy still on the micro..He hasn't ridden the new one yet...we actually got rain here in Texas this weekend..(rained out) go figure. You can tell he is outgrowing the frame in this picture. This was his first race back after breaking his femur in January..he blew there doors at this triple pointer.."The Hudson Hornet"

  8. Scamp the Champ. I was only 6 when my parents started putting it on my jerseys..they had shirts that said "Scamp the Champs Dad/Mom" I always hated it!
  9. So here we are. The bike just needs to be polished and the carbon #plate put on it. We hit the scales at believe it or not exactly 10 lbs flat. The aluminum spindle alone will get us under 10 lbs...I could change to the uni seat and gain another 2 oz. I could also switch to the sinz carbon bars and gain another..that's about it. Potentially at 9 Lb. 12 oz is as far as i could see getting while remaining strong enough to race week in week out. I refuse to start drilling holes..but you could

  12. Headset is a chris king 1' threadless...it is an ounce lighter than the crupi If you really want to get crazy I have heard of people running carbon or nylon bushings instead of the heavy steal bearings....doesn't seem like that would turn very clean to me Tires are intense 1" micro knobs with race light tubes. Sew ups are likely a little lighter but they are hard to find and a pain.
  13. Forks: We are running the bombshell carbon mini fork. Note the new answer dagger is a full ounce lighter than ours. But I stripped all the heavy resin off the outer tube and then lightly clearcoated it. My little guy is only 45 pounds..so I can gamble on the strength of some of these mods. Bars: We are running the new answer carbon bars 3.5" rise. Note the new sinz carbon bars are an ounce lighter..but they only make them in 3" rise and 5" rise neither of which provide the right ergos for my son. Seat: We are running the THE seat..Note the uni seat is the lightest at 3.5 oz. Our is 5 oz.
  14. Brakes and stem. The brakes are Origin 8 with additional machine work done and stripped. Anodized blue. The post and the hardware was all replaced with aluminum NO Ti. The brake lever is also Origin 8..the lightest one you can buy. The stem is a Redline, stripped and anodized. Magnesium Aztec pads were used Crupi Ti bottom bracket. I was not able to get the aluminum spindle done. I will get it next week...so I am giving up at least 2 oz here. The cranks are custom (machined speedline or answers will work.) ORP does this work as well as the sprocket. Note the sprocket bolts directly to the crank..so there is no spider, chain ring bolts etc. Also the crank bolts are aluminum. The chain is a hollow pin hollow link. The pedals are wellgo but these are sold in Europe...Found these on a link through an ebay seller. Aluminum platform with ti spindles. Mild machine work on these
