I read the champion history thread a while back. Even the reference about a "new 26 being tempting......" Sorry I didnt mean to ruffle feathers with this thread. But they are repoping these things and you cant change that. ps I wouldnt pay $1200 for one of these new frame sets anyway.

I can see where you are coming from on the "easy fix" comment and I understand that. I also see a tsunami of repro items everyday and have concluded it is the way it is, and can not be undone. .

I dont know if this topic has been bought up, but there are Champion frame sets listed on the bay as NOS. items. Its apparently old tube sets left over after Champion ceased production, welded by the original welder. The 20'' sets are listed now, the first fifty 26'' sets are going to the powder coaters now and the 24'' sets are a few months away. A 26'' champion has been on my want list for a long time, and they rarely come up. I ride every day on my current 26'' from 10-100km. So I guess Im looking pretty hard at these items. Have a look on the bay, read the blurb. Thoughts?

Cool bike. Looks very nice. How does the two speed work? Is it some type of kick back system? I dont know much about these but I would love an extra gear on my Kos, with out all the hardware cables levers twist grips etc etc.

I'm starting to see it where I am too. People starting to swoon over fake, redone, and "restored" (ie reannodised and over polished turds). I'm a bit more isolated, and it makes it a lot harder to stay interested. I'm letting one more cruiser go, I'm going to hang on to my core three 24's and I'm going to buy a new mountain bike and get out and ride more. All I'm going to do now is buy the odd trinket for the three I have left, and only buy those trinkets from reputable sellers. Get out and ride +1

Maybe the one on the left is made to take a spider and the larger boss is for a chain wheel. I ran a spider on my larger boss mount for a while and I had to clean it up with a file, to get it to fit.
