  1. Does any one know if Dave Marietti will be there??? He was with Torker back in the day....
  2. NO I don't think it is stuck, but I 'd rather not seperate it.
  3. I am bringing my awesome 24" JMC # 83 C 30 Frame & straight seat post. (I lost the forks & FAB bars in a serious screw-up some years back.) I also have some OS number plates, including a brand new HARO. I have some leathers, Jerseys & some old t-shirts. I also have MANY back issues of the three magazines of the day. BMX Action, Super BMX, & BMX Plus. I also have a pair of Skyway Tuff Wheels - 24" RED looking for $300. My frame was offered for sale last year & many people looked at it, I'll be sure to clean the DROOL....I also have an open face ECHO painted white. Looking forward to seeing some old friends & fellow riders. If you have SWATCH WATCHES I'm always looking FOR THEM !!! Ron
  4. So very sorry to read about this news today. Jim, my prayers are with you. It was great to see both of you last year, & I'm sure she too was happy to see all the riders who the two of you toured with. What a true spirit she was. Again, may GOD be with you & yours during this time, Ron Hussey.
  5. This years classic had nice cars & a great band --- BUT terrible bathroom situation, bad food situation, & stupid traffic / organization. I will try the Jamboree too, I'll just bring out the bmx stuff too!!!
  6. Welcome "team97" -- Glenn, thanks for the quick reply, you and Bill had some good stories friday night. I just thought you might have some info about the store & would share with this site. Everyone I spoke to @ Bellflower was really into the old school stuff. r
  7. Weird, I just talked to 2 guys over the weekend at VW related events that worked at Peddlepower ! They were telling me stories about how they raced at Orange "Y" and started bending tube to make Powerlite bikes. One of the guys has a daughter that races now, the other brought out an old Race inc bike complete with campy hubs. I'll try to contact them & find out if they have any old photos of the shop. Still, such a small world ! Strange how the two intersect.
  8. Well, I'm no expert & I own 83 C 30 frame -- my first forks were bladed!!! But,because I was racing it and I'm over 200 lbs. & they changed style, I got the new style forks sometime in mid to late 83 when they were introduced. Maybe it was early '84 -- ? Ron
  9. First off, a stellar event this past Saturday.!! It was great to see the two people who have contributed the most to BMX, Jim & Vera Melton. Imagine a BMX world without his efforts.......I don't think its possible! It was a pleasure & honor to be recognized with the team riders, Thanks, Ron Hussey
  10. Does anyone know how to save old gumwall tires??? I have some old Comp III tires that seem brittle, can they be saved??? I thought about Armor-All or similar but didn't want to ruin them. How bout it? I want to take them off the wheels & remount.
  11. #1. Visit the ATM $$$$ #2. Dig out my JMC race wear #3. Sort through my Magazines by year
  12. Funny, I just saw this particular ad this weekend.....It must have had something to do with GT bikes being made in Santa Ana & Haro made in some foreign land !!! Or, maybe it was a jab about Eddie Fiola / Bob Haro rivalry ??? Anybody Know ??
  13. I was curious to hear peoples opinions as to which mag -- BMX action, Super Bmx or BMX Plus had the best issue. While looking through some old issues, I wondered is there one issue that stands out? I know its up to the individual, but is there an issue with tests or race coverage that you gotta have ? Certainly there are standout issues of each. Lets hear your opinions ---
  14. Correction to prior post ***** Frame number is C 8330 ***** Sorry if anyone got excited about me not knowing the number.
  15. First off, I have to say what a great web site. This thread is fantastic, I just have read through from page 1 to 17. This is the tribute to a fine gentleman & a great guy who REFUSED to go foreign. Again thanks to Jim. Allow me a short introduction... I'm Ron Hussey, I raced the So-cal locals, the California State series, & a few Nationals with the JMC colors. I got involved right at the time the Australian Team was here in 1983 and raced until I just got too old & tired in 1990. During those years, I had some real fun times, met some great people & enjoyed myself beyond belief. During that time I was happy to support JMC, Norm's Bike Shop, and of course HOT SHOPPE who without Dave I could not have done most of those races !! I'm looking forward to the Bellflower event, I'll be bringing # 83 C 30 my 24" cruiser raced proven, my Wizard number plates, and my JMC Helmet, along with whatever stuff I can find. Any interest in OLD magazines??
