#542200 The most expensive documented sales...

Posted by Kerry on 30 March 2015 - 04:15 AM

Interesting thread. I have a story and I could be wrong but I don't think I am. I remember listing a set of Nos alloy flange black 24" Skyways. I paid maybe $90 for them back in 2002. I listed them on eBay and got over $900. I thought it was a fluke, I'd never get paid etc. Well I did get paid and from that day, everyone listed all the alloy flanged 24" skyways they had and the price stayed that high for a while. I'm fairly certain that sale changed the market for that item from that sale. Usually when an item goes for nutty money, it's just two people that really want that item and are stubborn etc. It seems everyone is watching. If something goes high, the market for said item becomes very available.

Never had one back in the day but I like this because it's different, made in the USA and dig the scheme. I got this off Brett Kimble. 1987 Robinson ProTeam model. From the color, to full 4130 loop tail and it's all OG. Missing the Power Series Cranks, Speedtraps and seat. Love the GT hubs and white Araya's.

Scott Hice had a lot of passion for bmx. He overbuilt everything and made a classy product. Sick build Scott, you always seem to build with riding in mind and with the limited parts available always make them look different. Always admired your art, bicycles and you're a gent. I must say, the geometry looks proper on that one my Firemans 29" rides like a dream, I'd love to ride that beast.
