  1. Oakley 3's were all the rage for a short period of time. As far as being a timeless style, they aged about as well as big bell pants and disco music. My favorite grip from the 80s was the A'me Unitron. Comfortable, tough and 2 colors.
  2. I hope they do well. I had a chance to see what appeared to be a nos Bassett. The weld quality was stunning.
  3. Super nice bike. Get rid of the seat post and pegs. Then stand the bars up straight and you'll have a gem!
  4. No way Carlo would have put his name on a bike with welds of that quality. But the single chain stay brace is styled and shaped like the plates Boss used on their double chain stay brace.
  5. If the spider/ chain wheel has a overly large bore in it allowing to move at all it will cause this problem. More frequently the problem is a combination of a poor qualitity freewheel/ free hub and a poor quality chain wheel. Both will be slightly out of round. As a result one point will be overly tight while the other will be too loose. On my 24 I fixed the problem by upgrading my freewheel to a white industries and my spider to a profile spline drive. Both are very true and I'm able adjust the chain properly.
  6. Thanks for that picture. I have been wondering for some time if the Bandito series was silver cup or gold cup as I could not remember for sure. My next question is what was the difference between the silver cup and the gold cup series? Thanks again

  8. What, exactly, is your stance on refinishing? I had not really considered taking a stance on refinishing until reading a few bmxsociety threads on the subject. After considering many of your opinions, it makes sense if you find a decent condition bike, even if not perfect, leaving it alone is a good option.
  9. My question to you guys is.. "Will BMX follow the collector car scene where repainting is the norm and accepted? Better yet, will BMX eventually follow in the footsteps of car collecting?" Really? What planet are you living on? In vintage bmx collecting, refinishing is the norm. At this particular site it is frowned upon, and some good examples are given at bmxsociety.com of why and when one should or should not refinish. But thats a minority position at this point. A better question would be; Will bmx collectors eventually walk away from the car collecting and restoration norms?
  10. Great bike. One of my best friends raced a Ta with alloys back in the day. One day in my shed, he found my old red set of tuff II's. "Hey can i have these? Sure." After he cleaned them and got them on the bike it looked alot like yours. Too bad about the stem and stickers. You'll regret that forever.
  11. Thanks for posting this build. Whats the frame material? I may want to make room for one of these in the garage.
  12. Your build and color combo is very nice. I really like the lines of that frame as its very visually attractive. When looking at the True Torch website, I only saw double gusset frames and no cantilevers.
