  1. Thanks. They are engraved, and would have been purchased in 79. I've never had much interest in these, but they are quite nice. I think the intention back in the day was to replace the through axles on the Ukai's with these hubs and the spokes you see. There's also a pack of six replacement sealed bearing axles etc.
  2. Curt, you know your Japanese stuff! I didn't think anyone would notice and/or care about what those cranks actually are. I on the other hand am aware of how rare they are. I've searched for years for Mighty Tours in 171/75 and found only 3 sets all this time and only one anodized in color (red). In short, they are in-fact original blue anodized Sugino Mighty Tours in 171/75. There is some moisture damage to the ano, but still, original finish and never ridden. They are also only meant for a single chainring. So either track or BMX was the intended purpose. The Japanese were just getting into BMX in 1978, so I'm sure there were numerous cross over parts. Another interesting thing I noticed tonight is the dia-compe brake cables have no dating on them. Perhaps they didn't do this in 78/79? The brakes are complete, even have the plastic cable clamps...
  3. I'm going to have to hang onto those for a while. I've never seen in-person, let alone possessed a pair of these and likely never will again. I have several early Comp II yellow's with script writing but they're small blocks. Not sure the wife will see them as works of art on the wall, but I wouldn't mind displaying them for a while.
  4. I haven't had much time for forum posting etc. for the past year or so, but I still keep my eyes and ears open for the good stuff. I recently picked up this lot which had been sitting dormant in someones attic since 1979. It's all either NOS/NIB or never ridden and in time-capsule condition. Feels good to know this stuff is still out there to be discovered.
  5. Seems so, apparently Matex was the earlier manufacturer before Taihei. Better safe than sorry right? I had never seen one stamped underneath like that.
  6. Here's what I always thought they looked like underneath
  7. I just took a closer look at this Elina Super Pro on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/330811897534?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Here's what concerns me. 1. There is no Taihei stamp on the bottom 2. There is no Elina stamp on the bottom 3. There appears to be glue where it looks someone recovered this seat, though it looks like it was done a while ago. Just a warning, this is not a Taihei Elina Super Pro "stamped" seat. I may be wrong, but would hate for someone to over pay for a copy...
  8. Actually you are right, the probably can't do anything. No where does it state they are GT "California" pads. Very clever...
  9. Wow! that's some serious bad karma heading his way...
  10. Sadly, the person in the link I posted above is located in the U.S. I wonder if this person purchased one of these "S" sets from the foreign guy and is now trying to dump them? That's even worse...
  11. I think DAN has a set like this, maybe he will know. Don't look like Wald, the high cross should make them easier for someone to identify.
  12. Awesome! Next years Jr class winner right there!
  13. Wow, I feel really bad for the bidder here... Whoa! http://www.ebay.com/itm/180791559347?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_1020wt_1139
  14. Well, I did my best and bid well over what I wanted to. This bike will not be mine... I am quite happy for my friend and what it went for though!
  15. But which one of the 8!? The weakling! I have no weakling worth anything to anyone around here. But abozny will get even more pissed if I sell a Pro F/F which would include one of those Meriters he needs... ;-)
