  1. Nice! I'll be there this year with a few other old school folks. The poster is nice! Who designed it? Are you guys actually printing copies?
  2. Here's a shot of the set up at the Tribeca Film Festival for the doc's release, or, premiere. That's the screen in the background. The most amazing part of the evening was watching Mat ride the half afterwards during the demo. His right arm is practically useless, but with the aid of this corsett-arm-brace thing, he pulled all kinds of stuff. Just made me smile, man, it was awesome to see him being honored in this way. A truly deserving man. Amazing.
  3. Working on a GPV...

  4. This is a fantastic shot. Classic Bob Haro cartoon style.
  5. I can't remember if I posted this link before, but I started a Flickr Group to try and get all the old Wyoming/Colorado BMXers to participate. The photos are from 1979 to '84, or so. http://www.flickr.com/groups/wyoming-colorado-bmx/pool/ This is a shot of one of the fast Colorado boys, Jeff Murray (Kuwahara support): And check the rubber band start in this shot... that's me #57. Ft. Collins, Colorado.
  6. I met Mike within my first few weeks of working at Wizard in 1984. He was doing SE and always super nice — but I had no idea how far back his involvement with BMX went. Thanks for posting the interview. Where is Mike based these days, anyone know?
  7. Holy crap, I remember that bike now. I loved the Robinsons. Had a couple of them. That bike has some classic zine stickers on it — 10 Foot Boneless, Damage (anyone remember David Slade?), Swank... Anarchic Adjustment (another Brit, Nick Philip) and CHB too. Funny how a couple little things can snap your memory back into place.
  8. Hey Daniel, that's pretty much true. Spike and Megan were (are) old friends, so when they started Girl, it just made perfect sense for me to move in with them. — Andy
  9. Shing! Wow, that's a nice collection. The smear sticker (is it a sticker?) is one of a kind! But what the hell is that Freddy Kruger thing with my name on it? Do I want to know? I'm honored to have been picked by Steve for an interview on the site... I'm in good company! Grubbs was my favorite BMX racer back then. I want to thank Steve for the great questions and the chance to answer them — and Chromey for the cool layout. Thanks guys. Again, I'm honored. And thanks for all the kind words fellas — it means a lot, especially coming from guys that grew up just like I did. In the dirt. —Andy PS Steve, it's not Utah, it's Wyoming... the big square state.
  10. Rad thread. It's funny to think all these snap shots sat in envelopes, drawers, boxes, etc., for decades... I started a Flickr page from our old BMX days back in the first years of ABA Wyoming Dist 1. There are some other old school shots sprinkled in there as well. Loved those times, racing all year. Anyway, check the Flickr page here: http://www.flickr.com/groups/wyoming-colorado-bmx/pool/
