  1. OK. they arrived. first of all: no bearings included. interesting cranks. the drive side and spindle is all solid. the chainring or spider needs to be 32mm to fit the spindle at the drive side crank arm. it's set in place with a typical spider or chainring bolt. the middle of the spindle where the bearings go is 26mm. the cup diameter is 47mm and 16mm deep. so I need 26x47xwhatever to fit the cups and spindle, I found them on a fitness bike replacement parts site. so I reckon to get these working I need to bore out a thin spider or power disc,(cant be more than 4mm thick) from 19mm (or whatever opc size is) to 32mm to get it on the spindle, and then press in those bearings in the cups and were all good to go... I think
  2. those are all very good questions. the original thought was that they are CPI blanks and then engraved and anno'd in red. but the cast marking (when you blow up the pic) is RC PAT NO.80440. these were on ebay for over a month and listed at 177.5 in length. i ended up making an offer and winning the bid. they were delivered today and are waiting for me at home. i will dissect them and post more pics. they are very unusual. the chainring has got to be for a 19mm spindle, but it looks like its easily a 20mm or 22mm like the old cpi fsa/robinson/gt/powerlite/etc. how indeed does it connect since there is no pinch bolt on the drive side... pressed in? bolted in from the non-drive side? curiouser and curiouser...
  3. someone posted those same pics on the mtb facebook page with the same results: nada. infact the one thing they agreed on was that it was probably bmx
  4. hi there, been trying to figure these out for awhile now. google, museum, facebook, vintage has got nothing. anybody got any ideas?
  5. I thought this bike was at Al's Rapid Transit's shop for awhile..? the secret to a dual drive is the hub. you can use any lh/rh drive arms which are widely available.. but you need a hub that is l/r with the left side reverse threaded and a reversed threaded freewheel. clemtwin, haro, dk and I guess this one off phil wood are the only ones I know off. also.. the pawls in the freewheel would need to engage at the same exact time in order for the dual drive to truly work, or your just engaged on one side (whichever engages first.) and the other side is just following along. someone told me that it does actually engage at the same time on this bike. which seems impossible to me... but if anyone could figure it out.. it would be paul and white bros.
  6. thats an awesome bike! heres mine. it's 1 1/8" headtube though. I had the canti's removed. here's a nice long forum about the frame's tumultuous past: http://www.vintagebmx.com/community/lofiversion/index.php/t9000775-0.html makes for good reading as Supercross was raked over the coals about these 1st gen frames!
