  1. If my old bike went for that much coin, No wonder I haven't heard from Jeff in a while... It's cool that folks care as much as they do to spend what they do...
  2. Fun thread... Bill was wacky. My Dad worked for him at night for extra cash in 76 I think. He has some stories... Last time I ever talked to him was Xmas eve in the mid to late 90's. He wanted me to come paint the bottom of his sail boat on xmas day while it was out of the water. I did yacht maintenance as a side gig for years but I said no way on xmas. He got pissed and I never heard from him again. Gilbert worked for Devitt for years, Ending up at Conant where I would go in atnight and weld. He also worked for Turner when I was there in the mid 90's. He did the aluminum stuff and I did the Ti. Some day I will find the pics of the pre FMF Bastian frames. I had to use axel raiser plates because the ground clearance was LOW.
  3. Hello I want to build your old GJS race bike. I have a pre-serial frame and fork I need your help guidance.

  4. It's complete. Just as Tim built it up for Rockford to my memory's best specs. Complete with the Dennis Dain plate. Needs to be dusted off and put in it's place, I guess.
  5. This is the frame I came home from the 78 tour (August) and saw. I have polaroids of a chrome one also. The JU-6 had just came out and my Dad wanted to build frames. I had just turned 16 and had this head-trip to deal with... Steve, we need to do the indepth interview sometime. With all the drama. I'm ready to bare my soul I guess!
  6. Off topic... This thread has got me thinking that my JU-6 should be in the HOF and not collecting dust in my living room for no-one to see. What do you think?
  7. Cool! I still say my Dad built one that had the double down tube loop all the way around back up to the head tube. It looked like shit and was way too hard to build. Hi everybody! Long time no see. Anyone want to buy a JU-6? Just kidding!
  8. Hey gang! I have polaroids I need to scan of GJS proto's in 78. The rear triangle was like a Mongoose. I rode one and it was too short so my Dad changed it and Stu and Clint Miller rode the next model. Clint rode a tangerine frame with handmade decals by OM at the NBA sports arena national. BMXA mentioned the GJS as a new frame in that edition... Ben has a good memory!
  9. For the O.C. folks... Is Aquarian Coatings in Santa Ana, still in business? Don Bradshaw (father of Crystal, wicked fast gal BITD) ran the joint. I went in sometime around the late 90's and saw Crystal after many years. she was running the office. WOW! Hot! and she drove some hopped up Mustang... Sorry for the hi-jack.
  10. Originally it would of been ball-burnished? Don't remember any painted aluminum FMF's.
  11. Denni Dain re-did the 35x plate for me from his original patterns. (he still has them!) My uniform from that year is on the table in the background. Again, thank you Tim!
  12. Here's mine (frame) with Cook bros forks. thanks to Tim this very bike sits in my living room...
