  3. Marcus, I'mnot sure we were talking about the same decal for the fork. We did have a rectangler Fork decal It was abour 1' by 2". It had the small JMC crest on chrome. I had a couple of hundred when I retired. I sold them out on ebay 1999-2001. Somebody out ther should have a couple. I will look for a picture of them. Love this thread! Thanks Bryce, brings back a lot of memories! jim Melton
  4. Bump! I love this thread! I use it ever once in a while to refresh my memory on somthimg! Thank all of you that have posted! Jim Melton
  5. We use to have master frames for each model of frame & fork that we had. We had them all stored a long with all of our jigs in Washington, MO not far from the Missouri river. The flood of 1993 wiped the whole works out. I keep thinking somthing will show up, but not yet. I would sure love to have that stuff back! Hope to see some of you guys in Tulsa this week at the grands! Jim Melton
  6. I met John Chattuch not sure of the spelling at a swap meet. He was owner of CYC. He sold me some plastic gas tanks , number plates and some heavy duty spokes. THat was my start in BMX. We specialized in building wheels for high dollar road bikes. He took on Terry V. as a partner. They talked me into building wheels for CYC. We built most of the wheels for CYC. We also set up most of the bikes that were pictured in the CYC catalog. This was way be fore I decided to built a frame. About the time I got involved with CYC I got involved with Covina BMX. That is when I really got the bug & John Begin talked me into starting a Bike Shop team. Most of my customers were engineers at Areo Jet. They laughed at ne for getting into BMX. If I had to do it over again I would do the same thing. I love BMX! Jim Melton
  7. Hey Bryce, Thanks for posting these pictures. Also thanks for sending me the email! That was our very first bike XP-1 made for Ronnie West. It was also the first sew-ups used in BMX. I got the sew-up 20" rims from Biff" Adam Cox's Godfather. Adam will recall more of this history then I can. Thanks again for posting this, Jim Melton
  8. Thank you Steve for putting on a great Show. It was one of the best days of my life. It was great seeing everybody! just wish I could remember their names. I have some sad news, Kevin Keller called me today to let me know that his Dad Tom Keller passed away last night. He was one of my closest friends. He will be missed. He was an anounser for NBL for several years. I though I would have some pictures to put on, but My Daughter Carla's computer crashed the day I flew home. I Hope she gets it going soon. A big thanks to everyone that attended. I am still on Cloud "9". Thanks guys! Jim Melton
  9. Ginny was a great Lady! She was one of our best dealers back in the old days.. She was still selling & pushing our product right to the end! She will be missed. R.I.P Ginny Jim Melton
  10. Please tell Jerry I said Hello!. He use to call me a couple of times a week back in the day. The last time i saw him was at my sister-in-law's funeral. Jerry is a great guy!
  11. Hey Dan, I have a few items I would like to donate for door prizes. I need an address to ship them to. I am really looking forward to this one. Thanks, Jim Melton
  12. Hey Guys, We got a long way to go here. We still have some legal work to do. It will take some time. We want to do it right. So if we drag our feet a little don't get to upset. Rome wasn't built in a day, but we will try! I appreciate all of your input. Jim Melton
  13. John my youngest daughter's husband worked for me at JMC while he was going to College. He more then likely knows more about making bicycles then I do. I didn't even knbow he was interest in it until a couple of months ago. He is a very successful engineer. He more then likely can spell better then me also. I will be the head of the co. as long as I am able. Then my daughter will take over. We could change the name to CMJ, Carla Melton Jansen. Just reversed. They will be made in the USA! I don't think they will be cheap. Every thing will be re-designed. The old stuff will still have it's place. We may also make a 26". John & his boys will do most of the work. All we we will be missing is a Vera and a Shirley. Shirley was the best secretary that anybody could of had. We are hoping that some of our JMC Team members will have some input into it also. We will try to do it right. Thanks guys & gals! Jim Melton
