  1. and here is what i'm racing atm thanks to martin-bike.com :14:
  2. Some very nice cruisers there!! Although unrestored, here's my OS Australian built Super LA 24" that I thought i'd put up here as something a bit different. In time it will be shiny again.....in time
  3. And another from the born again racer at last weekends local. 36 and still fearless!!!! well kinda.....the "gotta work on monday" thing messes with the fearless gene a bit
  4. This is of my cousins and me from bitd. That's me on the right with my race inc. At the last count I had cracked that frame in 11 places before I swapped it for supergoose. If I had even 1 slight crack in my current 04 redline I’d toss it, let alone see how many more I could accumulate to be a fearless kid again!!!
  5. Dude, you stole my idea!!!!! (and i live half a world away from you) i was only having a conversation with global nomad about this just a couple of weeks back. i'm looking to get my son a 2005 expert redline in the next week or so and was going to give it the OS look. i have the vinyl padset already and decals are only a website away unreal idea by the way and your bike looks killer :14:
  6. i guess this should be in off track, but that wasn't availiable in my 5 second search for it.... http://www.teagames.com/games/bmxstar/play.php and best of all the bike has tuffs :32:
  7. I haven't, but am also interested in finding out how this is done too....... anyone????
  8. Tan Frame, brown forks, brown pads with blue logo, anno blue rims, chrome hubs and black skinwall tyres chrome seat post with suede brown kashi seat and anno blue clamp anno blue brakes anno blue tuff neck, chrome power wings, and blue/white b1b's chrome profiles with chrome DID chain and a blue/brown proto plate with a big fat number 1 on it :14: or you could try chrome forks, white frame and anno gold bits like i did
  9. I've have been thinking of using lead after i saw a car resto show on discovery channel last night. As described above, they heated up the panel and then applied the lead almost like silver solder. It looks like there is a fair bit of work and it's kind of dangerous to do in the back yard. (if you have kids and pets around) But might be the only way to go. any other ideas anyone?
  10. Guys, I've got a problem. I have a profile f/f and a set of LG's that were sent off to the p/coater (as they were) to be stripped, prepped and coated. Upon return of the items all freshly coated there are many imperfections clearly visible. These imperfections are not in the coat itself but where the metal was rusted / scratched / gauged etc. and basically it is so bad that it needs redoing again Now, my problem is that all these imperfections need to be filled and prepped so that the piece is perfectly smooth before being coated again. My question is.....has anyone had experience using any sort of filler under powder coat? I figure that normal auto body filler will crack or melt in the p\coat process. Welding is not an option because most of the problem has been caused by rust. I have thought about brazing but this would be time consuming and my result in more damage to the parts. Or, as I have been thinking lately, should I just prep the parts with auto body filler and paint them with good quality auto paint?
  11. great, thanks for the info guys
  12. Does anyone know what size spokes i should use to lace up some 1980 z rims to a pair of Suzue low flange loose ball hubs? No guesses please....just the cold hard facts B) thanks in advance Bruce
  13. Sandy, you asked to see the frame decals and forks. Sadly the forks are long since gone, but check out the decals and let me know what model you think it is. Also, how much did the fork change from 81 on? and between the different models? Willinois has hooked me up with some forks that i think may be from around 84 The interesting thing with this resto is that while i'm polishing up all the parts as best i can, i don't actually want to make it look new. It will be the only bike i have that has that well used look to it.
  14. Man, i wish i posted here before i bought those decals, but, seeing as they're not all that good i think i'll stick em on and post a pic here so that others are aware. i'm sure they'd look ok on a lighter coloured frame but i'll keep my eye out for a better set for when i do a proper resto on this bike. it's my son's daily rider for now so the decals will probably get scratched up over time. hey STR-1, those Quad decals look similar to the ones i bought from bmxmusem.com....are they close? they sell pk sets over there too , any idea if they're any good?
  15. Thanks for the info carbizguy. it's a shame that those details were not mentioned in the ebay add. sadly, it's cheaper for me to re powder coat the frame ($40) in white than it is to buy another set of stickers ($50) and have them sent out here to Australia.
