  1. William, I love the Panda, but what really popped out at me is the vintage stereo gear and posters. I have been getting back into collecting old concert posters and old live magnetic tape recordings and would really like to find a Bad Religion poster like that one. I've always thought that was a great punk rock picture.
  2. This is sad news. From all that I've read and learned about Mike Devitt, he was truly one of those people who lived life to the fullest, inspired others, and brought many of us great joy. R.I.P Mr. Devitt, you will be missed.
  3. OK, more BMX. I found this torker as a complete on ebay last month. I remember thinking as I was taking it apart, I should have asked the seller if you would actually be able to ride this bike as is, because I found a lot of broken parts (like the wheels which I am going to completely rebuild). Well, it started out looking like a dirty frame and fork with 90's parts and I hope I have brought it back to some of it's former glory. The first pic is as this bike was found (I only used frame/fork/headset/seat clamp from OG bike) . The rest of the pictures are as it is now, although I have since replaced bars with Wald cruiser bars and a yellow Haro two finger lever. Hope you all can dig 'em.
  4. It seems like ages since I've posted a topic on here. It seems like so much has happened not only in the past year, but in the last couple of months. I'm still kind of in disbelief that at approximately this time last year I was in Amsterdam winding down from a months long bicycle trek through Northern Spain. But that my friends is a story for another day. Today we find ourselves in a whole new world and I hope you all and your extended family and friends are well and safe in this ever more precarious world we find ourselves in. OK, lets get to the BMX. I picked up a super cool True Radius Bending frame a few years ago. This frame used to be owned by Pat, SE666, but I bought it from someone else. Anyway, I'm not even sure when I actually bought it, maybe 4-5 years ago. It has been on my to do list for a long time and luckily I got to attend the Midwest show this past Feb. and collected some parts and got a renewed interest in finally finishing it up. Well, as you can see, it's not done, but it's coming along nicely. I decided to basically mimic the late 90's GT Speed Series bikes with many of the parts a direct rip from a GT 24. This is a 2001 frame, so I think it isn't too far of a stretch to basically built it like a GT with a TBR frame...
  5. Heck yeah, those are some nice bikes Brian. It would be a difficult choice, but if I had to choose only one dI think I'd have to grab the DY. I've always liked the look of the red JMC DY frames and having never owned one, seeing this beauty kind of makes me want to find one.
  6. So I am kind of bummed I haven't been on here much lately and that I failed to even get any bikes listed in last years BOTY. My lame excuse is that I started a new job appox. 3 years ago and it has me commuting to work and it seems like I never have enough time to do all those things I'd like to do. BTW, I was looking for the button to make a contribution to the site, but don't seem to see it anywhere on here. Anyway, I was doing some research on Hutch and came across this crazy website with pictures and video of the old Profile BMX manufacturing plant. Have any of you guys seen this? It really blew me away. I'm kind of surprised they still have some old inventory just sitting around doing nothing... Here is hoping that this link works for you. https://digbmx.com/dig-this/forgotten-artifacts-from-profiles-dungeon
  7. Sodbuster, I'm glad you are not entirely "leaving" the hobby. I too have taken a big step back from collecting and building bikes. Part of the reason for me is what Brian Hays mentioned. There are just too many people more interested in making money than enjoying the bikes. I feel fortunate to have a couple of my old bikes from the early 80's and purchased a lot of what I have way before people started asking five and ten grand for a bike you could have bought five or ten years ago for probably 5 or 6 hundred bucks. The crazy thing is, there are still deals out there and there are definitely a lot of us here that are in fact in it for the love of bikes and not simply for financial gain. I have bought a couple of complete old school cruisers in the last couple of years for less than $1500 and I have bought many others, JMC, Thruster, GT, Race Inc., etc. all for a similar price. There was even a JMC cruiser posted on the museum recently that some guy was selling for $200, it was completely loaded and the buyer said he offered the guy what he thought was a fair price and the seller ended up actually taking less than the buyer was offering. So, I guess what I'm trying to say is we all need to keep the faith, there are definitely some problems and shady people in the game, but there are also a lot of good people out there keeping it fun and something we can all enjoy.
  8. Yeah, RL Paulie is correct, Sept. 85 serial code. I would be interested in seeing it, too.
  9. Darn, that would be one heck of a cool bike to own BITD. It's really cool that you've hung on to it. I'd get a new seat, a chain, and get that thing back on the road.
  10. Yeah I'm with you guys thinking that there should be something stamped or welded on to these stems to indicate that they are not the "real deal" made in late 70's and early 80's. These are such an iconic stem and it's definitely a drag that someone might pay some big money thinking they're getting something old and rare, not something someone finished making last week.
  11. I haven't been on here much this year and sadly haven't been riding as much as I'd like. I actually started 2018 thinking this might be the year I wouldn't buy or build any bikes. Well, as you can see from this post, that didn't really work out as planned. Here is a quick run down of the bikes. The GT and Cook Bros. were bought complete and I haven't done much with them. The red Race Inc I bought complete with all red parts. The Red Race Inc is OG anno with new stickers. I had the blue Race Inc already with all blue parts, so I decided to switch the parts on both bikes to have a blue on red and red on blue Race Inc. The Powerlite 26 was bought complete from a friend of mine and I switched out the pedals, bars, and seat post (seat post was a JMC, so I put it on my JMC). The red Powerlite I've had for several years, but finally sourced all the gold parts to build a replica of the one I had as a kid.
  12. Dang, I thought I had a cool SE bicycle collection, but I got nothing on this one. It's good to see that Ryder is enjoying himself and growing into his SE race uniform. Good stuff.
  13. I was wondering about the plate, too. It doesn't seem like a practical design for a ring.
  14. Damn, that's a nice pic up. The welds remind me of 90's GT and the brake bridge is kind of like a Terrier. I've never heard of or seen one before. It's got to be a rare bike that's for sure.
  15. Yardsale2, thanks for posting up these pictures. It was nice meeting you the other day at the show. It nice to see all the bikes and meet a few new people. Unfortunately my time was limited as I was in Chicago on other business, but I hope to make it back again next year or the next chance I get.
