#555004 Coaster Brake Challenge 21

Posted by rev106 on 20 December 2018 - 03:28 PM

Coaster Brake Challenge is a mtb off road rally series where you can ride a bike armed only with a coaster brake. No gears, multi-speed internal hubs or additional hand or other kinds of brakes allowed. This event has been going on for over 10 years now and has a good turn out of 20-30 people, new blood is what we're seeking perhaps you've heard if it. If you like fun, amazing positive attitudes, and single speed mountain biking, this may be for you. 20.00 entry fee gets you a t-shirt, a patch and 4 rallies with food and prizes at the last run. Meet points are located on my website (see flyer pic for that info) as well as all you'll need to know to give it a shot. I have loaner bikes that you can use upon request. Hope to see you then!

Vintage Mountain bike ride, comb out that mullet! any sort of bike welcome ride what you have!

Meet point 7:00 AM:

Rain or Shine! Real riders ride in weather!

We ride at 7:30 sharp.

Caballero canyon on the south side of Reseda Blvd, south of Ventura Blvd. Look for the sign on the left hand side, we gather there.
Med skill level ride:

Up the Cab to the Hub junction, back the way we came to the Nike missile base, then we take Farmers for some fun single track, then down the cab again. 12-14 miles, not too hard, mostly fire roads. Nike Missile base has a toilet and water if you need it. Make sure your bike is in good working order, bring an extra tube and be ready to have some fun!!!

25 miles on a vintage steed, I'm going to say 1992 This means No V-brakes, Clip in pedals, and a very limited selection of suspension, real riders would rock the full rigid. Carbon fiber? What's that?  Bring your steel steed, your mullet, and some Oakley Blades, decked out in some neon and get ready to rumble!!  It is Easter Sunday, but whatever, that means you don't have to get up at the crack of dawn to roll, we can have fun and party afterwards.. that is exactly what we are going to do kiddies..oh yeah!  Course should take 2-3 hours...more if you have not ridden your bike since it was new...

#548870 Bicycle Swapmeet 911/16

Posted by rev106 on 04 September 2016 - 02:19 PM

Hello bicycle people!

Once again I will be hosting a bicycle swapmeet.

When: Sunday September 11th 7am to 12 noon

Where: Atomic Cycles 17322 Saticoy Van Nuys, 91406

What: we get 1/2 of the parking lot. Be respectful of the other half and the alleyway. Spaces are one per person and are on a first come first serve basis.

We get ½ the parking lot. One spacer per person, you may have to unload and go park your car on the street. First come first serve. No set up or parking in the alley. Bring your shade/chair/change. Bring your stuff. Selling things for cheap makes them go away and money appear in your pocket otherwise there is ebay. Free the sell, free to shop from 7am till noon. Trade with your buddies, have fun watching the pair of mags you sold two swaps ago move from blanket to blanket.

Make the swap the best you can!

Take this info and spread it to your friends, the more people that come, the more bikes, the more parts, the more deals right? So it is up to you to make it good, better, best as it can be. Please spread it around to all your pals, in the flesh or on the web. Feel free to take the flyer and send it along to all interested parties.

#546936 Beware of bike theives using social media to steal bikes.

Posted by rev106 on 03 March 2016 - 05:23 PM

This has been going in the high end road and mountain bike communities for some time now and now it is trickling down to us lowly BMX riders..

Using things like stava and posting pictures in instagram with your cell phone will gps your location, thives are able to figure out where you live and target your bikes. You need to disable your gps on your phone when posting on instagram to help protect your collection. Below is a very lengthy thread off a mtb forum that is dealing with a specific group of bike thieves, but it is a symptom of the drawbacks of technology. Please take some time to guard your treasures people. Stay Rad!
