  1. Heres one of a few ways to spot if you frame has been repaired. This only works on steel that i know of. If you suspect you have a frame that has been repaired the welds will be one give away. Almost always the welds will be a dull grey and not the same bead profile as the rest of the frame. Also look at the direction of the weld this is also a give away. Most of the frames ive seen repaired are burnt in hot ( too much heat ). The only way you wont be able to tell the diffrence is if the welder really knows his trade. Another good way is to check the frame for straightness most of the frames being repaired are not put in a jig ( these fixtures are very exspensive ) and will most likely be out of alignment due to heat distortion. Dropouts can be a bit harder to tell but heres the trick. Muriotic acid mixed with water ( only needs a few drops ) put on the dropout on the edge where the wheel slides in ( the thin part) will reveal the filler metal and you can actually see the weld penetration. Theres lots of other ways also. Post em up lets educate eachother!
  2. Heres a pic of my old S&M cruiser. It was number 29 or 30 I forget which and was made or stickered " the stickers on it are the originals "before the widowmaker came to be from what im told.Unfortunatly it was stolen from the shop I used to work at in chicago. I still miss her!!!!!!!!!
  3. WOW...... Im just getting back to the forums seeing whats been going on and instantly remembered why I sold out and left. So i do have to put in my 2 cents. Hutch sucks and always has in my opinion I never had a hutch product that didnt fail. From what ive heard this new owner is a total ass clown. I have to stop here since my true feelings and the words id use in person are most likely unacceptable even on this site. Its nice to see you still around Kerry! S brothers great work man!!!!!!!! keep it up
  4. Correct.......It can be modified to your specs then would have to be re heat treated to regain its strength.
  5. I'm showing that Bullshot grease is still available... It's sold through J&B Importers 22 bucks a tub and 6.50 a tube.
  6. Keep it. It has done some good for people with resolving issues. It's always a good thing to have a place to post a lil pup and get it off your chest.
  7. If I remember correctly I respaced the rear triangle from the standard bmx spacing to track frame spacing about 4 mm on each side. If done correctly ( slow tiny movements with the frame spreader ) there is no damage to the frame.
  8. I did some frame manipulation and put a pair of paul track hubs on a bmx bike for a guy he loves them and it worked out perfect.
  9. The Pauls would of worked if set up properly. They are a pain in the ass to adjust and almost always need adjusting. I would check them for cracks also as I have broken 2 arms already. I love the lever. Shimano brakes arent as trick and most people love to hate shimano but shimano stuff works very well and is cost effective over the paul stuff.
  10. The best thing about JMC is the man behind it and his decision not to sell out like most everyone else. Unfortunatly it put JMC out of the game. There is a lot to be said about a man who wont sell his soul for the mighty dollar. Jim Melton is one of a very few people out there who would not sacrifice quality for quanity.
  11. I kept all mine original I'd rather use a bit of touch up paint then repaint a frame. Too many nice rides have been ruined by re painting. A tru collector will go for the all original survivor over the restore. just my .02
  12. Prices like that are going to open up a market for repops. Id buy a $75 repop over the $500 original.
  13. Anybody remember PMC part from the early to mid 90's? It looks like nice stuff anyone ever use these parts?
  14. I have a Diamond Silver Streak frame and fork that id like to build up and sell on ebay and donate the funds to sandy's family. I personaly dont have the time to build this nor do I have the parts to do so. I would however ship the f/f to a interested party to complete the buils then put it on ebay. The f/f has no dents or dings and the chrome is in ok shape. If this sounds like something youd like to do or be part of let me know and il send out the frame set.
