  1. I wish I had known, I'm only an hour away from there. Post up next time there is going to be a meet in this area. Thanks.
  2. Nice bike! Ask him if he drilled the forks. I don't know of any first generation GHP forks that came drilled. Some of us did as to run a front brake and attempt to ride like Harry Leary.
  3. Twin State BMX in Claremont NH. I remember getting a flat right after practice, the bike shop up the hill was about to close and my brother/mechanic ran up there and got a tube just in time for me to make my first moto. A couple seconds and a third in my motos and a first in the main. I couldn't believe I won my first race. Little trophy for the "street class", non licenced riders, with a rider on a small marble base. I still remember how big those jumps were and how we thought the jumps we built in the park were huge, how wrong we were. That whole starting gate thing I had read about, but doing it in person was another story. I was hooked, too bad there was only a month left in the season. The next year we moved to FL and I raced the whole year.
  4. I'm a historian and major lurker. I read the posts every day although I hardly ever post anything. I raced for a few years back in the mid 80's and was heavily into freestyling. From flatland to the half pipe, all my spare time was on my bike. When I moved to Fl in '84, I didn't have too many people around to share my passion with, mostly skaters around here. I continued anyway until about age 16, then girlfriend, cars, jobs, you know the rest. Here's a pic of the old ride from the attic freshened up and a couple of pics of where riding bikes have taken me in the present time. I ride my mountain bike now and occasionally take the GHP for a spin monthly after keeping air in the tires. I love this site and love looking at the old rides.
  5. Awesome bike. Very similar to mine. :32:
  6. My DB became my lake jumper after it was replaced with the GHP for racing. It was great right up until my buddy rode way too slow and landed just short of the water breaking both arms on landing. We never thought of strapping the floaties to the bike, that's a great idea! :32:
  7. We have an elaborate "rails to trails" project still in the making in this area but I really enjoy the off road stuff in our area best. Every weekend we put "bike training" on the schedule and hit the woods for at least 2 hours. We take a unit out of service and put the bike team in service for training. I actually get paid overtime to work some of the events. :14: Time and a half to ride!! Can't beat that.
  8. Hey PJ, I took the IPMBA class last year for EMS cyclist. We do some events as well as some bike rodeo's for the kids. We train on duty a bunch and we have miles of trails in our first due area. Can't beat getting paid to ride my bike! :18:
