  1. EDIT: Did some more research this week and found out it's a round leg, double sided 3rd gen 110BCD spider. I believe what I have is the smaller BCD version, as you can see it's currently mated to a one piece crank, can it be used with a 3-piece down the line?
  2. Bump from the dead. I'm just realizing that the spider that came on my $50 Pre-Serial Hutch Pro Racer is worth more than the frame/fork these days probably.
  3. I don't know much about the Phil stuff. This came on my Pro Racer, is this what you need? Best picture I have sorry.
  4. Thank you guys. I kinda have to steer clear of the BMX sites because I spend money I don't have when I browse the classifieds So I'm sticking to the discussion sections only this time! Haha. Well thanks! Do you happen to be the "JJR" from the JJR BMX website? If so I love your site, and have found it invaluable for information over the years. I saw the note on the main page about you closing it down. While I don't know all of the details I respect your choice to close it down. I am working on a way to archive the site in a usable format so hopefully it stays online for a bit longer! Would be a shame for all of that information to just vanish. Thanks again for your hard work there. Unless you're a different JJR.
  5. First time here since the site change, it looks GREAT. Anyways, this has been slow going. I'll get it put together as a rider some decade. Here's what I have picked up so far: Later Hutch stamped seat post clamp. Will either strip and polish or paint matte black Araya 7a (I think?) rims with Suzue hubs. Tioga yellow label comp III re-issues, and fake Dia-Compe brakes to get me by. A set of REALLY rough Hutch hubs. I can't even get one of the axles out because the threads are so janky and need to be gone over with a die. Seller neglected to mention that.. Oh well they were super cheap. I've been told NOT to separate the bodies because lining up the spoke holes is a huge pain in the ass.. but I want to strip and polish these so I'm not sure if I have another option..Any one worked on these before and have suggestions? I don't have them in front of me but if the spoke holes are lined up from one side to the other I don't see why I couldn't find something (a few somethings) straight, and the same size as the holes to guide my alignment as I put the bodies back together. I had a set of Pro Bars for a short while but they were pretty beat and I didn't want to pump cash into them for repair and rechrome.. Kinda wish I would have reconsidered seeing recent prices for them. Oh well!
  6. Cool find! The mesh back "trucker" hats have gone out, back in, and now almost back out of style again since yours have seen the light of day! haha.
  7. I kinda echo what others have said, but my BMX days were like 1994 and up. So here's from a mid-school kiddie's opinion; I rode a Robinson Rebel with some vintage parts I bought with lawn mowing money, but had a neighbor whose boyfriend (he was 17-18 and the epitome of cool to us) had this old bike... we would roll up on our "new" bikes and he would tell us about how light and awesome his "Hutch" was. At 12-13 my friends and I could only bunnyhop a foot or so in the air, but we would watch this kid just rocket into the air on this Hutch. He told us that Hutch was pretty much the best bike you could buy in the 80's. He would let us pick it up (while he still had his hands on it) but never sit on or ride it. He would offer it to us for amounts of money unreachable by a 12 year old. I loved the logo and all the chrome. I always saw that bike as this forgotten classic that others didn't care about, but would make my riding dreams come true So I never even saw a Hutch race back in the day or anything, it was just this one kid teasing us with this old bike that made me pine for one. Aaaaaaaaand I am building an 83' Pro Racer as we speak It might ride just like every other bike, but I'm just excited to finally get that experience I could never afford as a kid.
  8. Well, thanks for clarifying. I had explained why I am doing what I am doing a couple different times, and it seemed like you were calling my parts junk, and what I wanted to do with them, stupid (illogical). Obviously this is a common setup or they wouldn't make a reducer. After 'bravoleader' lumped me in the same category as someone who would molest a Pro Star I was feeling a little defensive I guess. Sorry for that. That reducer on ebay looks to be the same thing I ordered, but $5 cheaper! poop. Thanks for the link anyways, bro.
  9. Very cool! Any pictures of his SST? My brother and I went riding with a local bike crew: http://www.minnesotafaction.com/blogfromhell.html I'm hoping they do another big ride in the fall, it would be great if you guys came.
  10. Here's mine. Bought it from my LBS as a kid. I plan on polishing it.
  11. If you go along that school of thought it's illogical to put time and money into mid-school or vintage bikes at all. Modern bikes are lighter, and stronger etc. but we do it because we want to, and we like it. I'm putting all of the parts I had on my childhood bike, on the frame I wished I had as a child. Both bikes are from 96, but the Rebel had a 1" headtube, and the SST had 1 1/8". I'm making due with what I have. I don't want a 1 1/8" stem, I want my dk mini that I bought with yard mowing money as a kid. And anyways, I don't really think that when cruising by the lakes and down to the store that the "old 1" threaded junk" is going to make much of a difference. But really, none of this matters. This thread is about the "how"... If I wanted your opinion on the "why" I would have asked.. Seems like your just trolling. If you don't have enough drama in your life, go watch some TNT..
  12. I am "used" the correct headset... I found cups that fit a 1 1/8" headtube, but accept a 1" fork. Meaning I can run an OS size threaded stem on a new school frame. I'm not sure what's "incorrect" about that. It should be perfect Moving on..... I'll let you guys know how the bearing cups work out. If they don't do the trick it sounds like 'bravoleader' has all the answers so I'll consult him next.
  13. Score. It's called a "Headtube Reducer". I found it on http://rinienterprises.com/ under "headsets". My brother and I have shopped there before and she is easy to deal with. It ran me $14.50. I am super pumped! Hopefully this helps someone else down the line.
  14. Hey all. I applied the decals a few months back and snapped this picture a few min ago. I'm still struggling with what to do about the headset/stem/fork. I started a thread about it here: http://www.os-bmx.com/forums/index.php?sho...t=0#entry371594 Overall the bike feels good though, and I can really tell a difference in weight from the Rebel. Besides the black sprocket, seat, and headset I think it looks pretty cool if I do say so myself
