My first BMX bike was a Torker and I still own it. I am not the most up to speed on all of the measurements and details but I will do the best I can for ya. I will photo the frame / forks and post it soon. It was purchased new in 1979 from a shop in Pasadena, CA. It was a motorcycle / bicycle shop and I believe it was called R&W cycles. They sold Maico motorcycles and Torker bikes. It is blue with chrome color stickers that have yellow writting outlined in black. There is one on the head tube that says MX and nothing on the seat tube. I believe the top tubes are 17" long. I believe the down tube and forks are both 7/8" Head tube machined or not? The bottom bracket is american and the serial number is on the bottom bracket. There is no oval hole in the gusset. The brake bridge is flat. Maybe the bottom of the Z is stamped lightly. Should be two letters, then the numbers. Any idea what month in 1979 you bought it? Oh, it's a 1979 LP mild steel. Michael, It is TZ2895LM. The bottom of the Z was hard to see. If I remember correctly it was bought in December of 1979. Kevin

i dont know who the other GT rider is, but the BANDITO is almost definitely Mucho Jones, as he rode for BANDITO, not GT AWESOME PICS and stories kevin, thanks for blessing the site!!! Greyboy, Thanks, and good guess on the Bandito rider. I have been talking to Mucho again after all these years through these BMX sites. We raced against eachother many times and I told him about this pic when I put it up. He is in the G.T. uni in this pic. I believe this pic was taken before he got his Bandito ride. I asked him who the Bandito rider was thinking he would probably know him but he has not thrown out a name yet.

Ahhh, Pipeline....... I used to race there on a regular basis. I look forward to seein your pic. Tori and Travis were both great racers and fun to hang around. I was born in 72 so if you raced with Tori you must have been a little younger than me. Here is a pic I dug up from an ABA National race around 82ish out in Lancaster, CA. Me (JMC), followed by Mucho Jones (GT), Geoff Schofield (GT) and I can't remember the name of the Bandito rider.

Damon, Yes, I remember you! Those pics you put up were great. Thanks for telling me where the pics I posted were at. I have very little of that documented. Do you remember any of the names of the Ausies in the pics? You guys had a cool group of people come over to the states and I remember being treated awsome when I went to Australia with JMC. Do you still keep in touch with any of the Raymonds or the Doves? How about any of the other riders from that time? Good to hear from you, Kevin Hi Kevin, I'm a fellow racer from down under. I was sponsored by Champion Cycles (The Doves family) and lived a couple of streets away from Andy Doves. His sons were Chris (behind you in one pic) Adam and one other I can't remember. Jason maybe? Damon help me out here. Andy Raymond is a sports presenter here these days on Fox or something. Damon will know. Blacktown track was my home track too. I would of been there that day. Great pics. Glenn Glenn, Thanks for the info.... I am sure our paths crossed while I was over there. I stayed with the Doves and the Raymonds for a time. Both families, in fact all of the Ausies B.M.X.ers, were very good to the JMC riders and myself. Damon and I have been sending emails back and fourth since I found him here. He is full of great info and it is fun catching up on everybody.

I think this was in OK at the ABA Grand Nationals. (1981ish) Jim Melton told me that Mike Thomas (the other JMC rider pictured / he was from WA) stayed with BMX and went on to run his own track in western WA. This pic is at the Azusa NBL track and was taken during the filming of the movie Uncommon Vallor. If you look close Gene Hackman is in the background. (off to the right)

My name is Kevin Keller and I am new to this site. I think this thread is great! I raced for JMC when I was a kid. Jim and Vera Melton are two of the finest people you will ever meet. I can not thank them enough for all of that they did for me growing up. After finding this site along with Vitage B.M.X. I started digging through old photos that have been stored away for years. I thought I would throw a couple up here.
