  1. Stunning! Great parts selection and color scheme. Awesome work!
  2. Frames are built for function, they leave they style to the rider. I do kinda miss the "style" of the os frames when Im looking at them, but climb on one for more than a casual cruise and you will see the diffrence in the feel of a bike that is built for a person with man sized porportions without sacrificing geometry. I always hated having to run a XL stem to make a bike fit me better, now you order bike TTs by the 1/4 inch incriments. I wish Robbie and his crew all the luck in the world, its a brutal market out there right now in NS. I agree with Kerry. The new Cult stuff doesnt have to look kooky to set itself apart even by new school standards but it is clear here that the Cult stuff is built in the same facory as the majority of everyone elses stuff. The OS frame looks just like my Fly Pantera frame, the Mind Control stem looks identical to a ton of other stems, fly potencia stem, Coalition Povah stem, Animal jump off stem, Hoffman FL stem, even *SHOCK* the fit DL stem, the chainwheel is a little better at least having a cool design. I aint knockin Rob-O but if he wants to set his brand apart he is going to have to try harder to get my cash. Others have already done the same thing and they were first or are less expensive.
  3. Very Nice. You dont see one of these everyday An exhibitionist is one of my grails. Loving the color scheme especially the turquiose O wings. (Darnit Oakley when are you guys gonna respect your roots and build grips again!!!)I had set just like on my bike when I was 15, the most comfortable grips ever!
  4. Don't let it break your heart to much, there are a lot more out there. Rob- Well I am a Haro guy through and through so I am not the authority on Hutch but it seems that the reason why trickstars are so expensive is they are hard to get ahold of...Am I wrong? I always wanted one back in the day but couldnt afford one.
  5. Man that is a nice 24 inch trickstar but I have to say it breaks my heart to see a trickstar cut up to make a 24'er.
  6. I dont see it as being any worse than when guys take vintage 20 inchers and turn them into pit bikes or a 24 incher. (That makes me cry! Especially rare stuff!) At least with this it can be stripped and re-powdered back to factory colors once you cut up a frame and fork you are going to have a lot tougher time getting it back to factory.
  7. NICE SCORE!!!! Kuwi for sure and here is some info to help you with regards to serial # How to identify most KZ serial numbers Special thanks to James O' Donnell For Example: FIRST DIGIT: K represents a KZ Kuwahara BMX. Early frames are stamped with a T mark for Tange. Above example shows letter K for Kuwahara KZ SECOND DIGIT: This is a number and not a letter. It is the year of production. In the example above you can see it says 1 (one) which means it is a 1981 model Above example shows number 1 for 1981 THIRD DIGIT: This is the month of production Above example shows letter A for January month of production FINAL FOUR DIGITS: represent the frame number of the monthly lot manufactured. Above example shows number 0118 for serial number one hundred eighteen of the January (A) lot. First Digit (Alphabet) identification K Kuwahara stamped frame T Tange stamped frame Second Digit identification 0 1980 1 1981 2 1982 Third Digit (Alphabet) identification A January B February C March D April E May F June G July H August I September J October K November L December Other examples T0L0383 Tange Frame, 1980 model, December lot, serial no. 0383 K2B0154 Kuwahara KZ frame, 1982 model, February lot, serial no. 0154 T0K0275 Tange Frame, 1980 model, November lot, serial no. 0275 Other notes From my experience I have found that the early model frames that start with a T (for Tange) have a large hole in the front gusset. The K stamped bikes seem to come with a slightly smaller hole in the front gusset as Kuwahara probably changed to that design for slightly better strength. I have also noticed welding seems to be better on the K stamped bikes too. The above serial number identification does not apply to all KZ model bikes. KGB is also a number found on some KZ-1 frames as well.
  8. As much as I love exact Haro repros I say do the Wilkerson route. The LBS perfect thing has been done and done really well a lot. I was also going to mention that the wilkerson bike components might be cheaper (not having to find the exact factory perfect parts)but after looking at the pic above I see Ron had some nice parts that in today's market are still hard to find. So anyways good luck and be sure and post pics! Some of us have to live vicariously through those who are getting builds done. BTW be glad you didnt decide to do a 85 or 86 master the cost of cranks alone will kill ya! :D
  9. Yet another overpriced, overhyped, "lifestyle,"streetwear", clothing company worn by people who think they are cool. Here see for yourself, http://www.crooksncastles.com/ Proof? They want $135 for a light cotton hoodie!!!! Oh well at least they didnt use the PK Ripper name for this project on a fixie. Overall the bike actually looks pretty sweet. SE did a good job.
  10. When I was about 4 or 5 me and my parents moved to Mexico and did not return until around 1980 or 81. While in Mexico I was a BMX'er but I just didnt know it. All that time I was building dirt jumps and riding my Huffy Road THunder off them. When I got back I walked into a bike shop and learned what I had been doing was actually a "sport" and was called BMX. I still remember it as clear as day, the first bike shop I walked into after we got back. I was around eleven. It was full of Mongoose stuff and I freaked. These bikes where so much cooler than any bikes I had ever seen. Why did I tell you all this? Because your bike just brought me back to that day. Let the "era correct" and "NOS" collectors have their fun, I say your bike is freaking sweet! In my neighborhood you would have been "the man" riding that bike. I love it just the way it is. Especially the yellow tires and Mongoose brand headset. I would love to ride something as cool as that around my neighborhood now. Nice build!
  11. They new changes are excellent additions to an already beautiful bike. Looks great! Get some tuffs with some cyclepro snakebellys and that would be darn near perfect!
  12. Bike only SKATEPARK? SKATEPARK I am trying to get the local dirt jumps paved so I can skate them I think skateparks should be for skateboards only no bikes equals a much safer skatepark or do like San Jose and have different times for bikes to ride. Bikes are kinda like jet skies any dumb ass can ride them out of control and hurt people. Manteca skatepark (bikes allowed) my son has 2 concussions caused by bikes. Ripon skatepark much sicker park no bikes no problems. There is nothing wrong with having bikes in a skatepark! I have ridden in many parks and with skaters and the only issues I have seen are caused by people who dont take the time to learn park ettiqutte. My guess is your son was the same. I have 4 kids ages 13,11,10, and 6. I take them to the park when I know there will be less people in the park. (early in the morning) Why? Because they are still learning and are just getting their "park feet". There is nothing more annoying than a parent who brings their little kid into the skatepark and lets them just run wild like it is a playground. If your kid doesn't understand park ettiquette it is time you teach them and keep them out until they do. The current park I ride at the most allows bikes, scooters, skateboards and pretty much anything else. We haven't had any issues. Your "Bikes are kinda like jet skies any dumb ass can ride them out of control and hurt people." comment is stupid. You could apply that same thinking to skateboards. Ever seen a runaway board? Heck you can just about apply that to anything. If you misuse something or are acting stupid with anything people get hurt. The key phrase there is "out of control" that doesn't just apply to bikes.
  13. Not sure why but for some reason when I edited my original post it posted a second message.
  14. That sir is what this hobby is about in my opinion...Well said.
