  1. Spur, Your RL20 is an amazing find! As long as the pitting/bubbling of the chrome is only on the bars, they can always be replaced with a cleaner set down the road. BTW, the correct seat on an 85 RL20 is a White Elina Flight Tech. In 86 the seats were stamped Redline. The seat post is a Redline fluted post. The grips were black Oakley B2's and black Panaracer tires. Also you'll need an aluminum Suntour block style clamp, I think that's what it's called.
  2. I would say it's NOS! The re-paint was done by Redline and is one of their factory colors. Factory paint and orginal chrome, sounds like NOS to me. However it's not in the original color so I guess 'NOS, once removed'.
  3. The 86 Street Beats came with SR Turbox cranks.
  4. Here are a couple of pictures of one that a member of Vintage BMX used to own. This is the only one I've seen with the 2 coaster brake mounts but I'm sure there are others like it.
  5. ryburnj, what year and color combo is your RL20II?
  6. Neil, Do you have any pictures of the last set of RL20II's that Chip powdered built up?
  7. Neil, As usual Chip did a great job! Did you have Chip re-powder the other Turquoise RL20II you had done before he had the new color made?
  8. That's a great shot of RL! I never saw this picture before.
  9. RL Craig, Nice Redline!!! Is it originally all chrome or did you strip the paint off? If so what color was it?
  10. It may very well be a test for the 87 black. Here's an article from the December 87 issue of American freestyler with a black RL20II with the high fork pegs.
  11. I think I'll strip the bottom bracket when I put the stickers on. I'm building it with a 4 bolt silver Forklifter stem and chrome bars. Basically as an 86 with chrome Super Pros.
  12. I just came across this thread. I also have the same NOS black RL20II frame set with the high fork peg mounts. It currently doesn't have the decals applied but I have a set of NOS decals for it. Mine doesn't have the weep holes in the brake bridge and the cable guide on the top tube up by the head tube is solid like an 86. Also the serial number only consists of numbers and no letter 'R'. I feel mine is an 86 or at least is an 86 frame with the 87 black color. I've seen 86 Haro Sports/Masters that were essentially 85 frames with the higher fork peg position and the higher bars that were sold as 86 models with the half paint/half chrome scheme. This is the only picture I currently have but can take some pictures of the brake bridge and the cable guide.
  13. The seller probably just looked at the serial number and saw an '87' and assumed it meant it was an 87 model. $60 is still a good price for those pegs, they are in nice shape. What color RL20 are you building?
  14. I agree that you should try and find an original tire and seat. Otherwise it's a perfect original Redline, great find!!!
