  1. Hey! NICE! I have an 81 nickel plated frame that I have held onto since the mid 80s. Tryin to find a fork. Anyone know if the forks were also nickeled? Imagine they were... $ tight, need all the parts which isn't affordable w/ all my other projects so it will be just a frame, fork & padset. My memory fades me, were the pads then snap pads or Velcro? pics would be cool! Thanks. O yeah. Blue Magic works GREAT on my other parts n pieces. Imagine nickel also. Yep it DOES. She's SHININ' NOW!
  2. Found me 2 on Ebay a couple a yrs back...would give ANYTHING for a complete frame set for mine. Well, the fork is taken care of anyway... & those were the fork decals above
  3. This is an 83 Navajo frame & fork a friend got in 83 when I got my Phaze 1. Our local BMX shop owner, Jim Mcmanus @ The BMX Pro Shop in Spartanburg was very involved in BMX @ the time & he had many connections in the race community. He got this for my friend who was small compared to the rest of us & chose The Brave frame w/a 16 1/2" headtube for quicker turning for his size. My brother kept it all these yrs. I rescued it out of his garage in Orlando in 2006 where it sat for almost 10 yrs untouched. The fork looks like a Patterson of that era & earlier. Sure it came w/ the frame as a group.
  4. You still come on here mate ?

  6. GREAT JOB!!! I woulda been too scared to clean it. Looks BRAND NEW now!!! FABULOUS!!!!!!
  7. osRLracer, I do remember how this one was broken in two and missing the front end. What an awesome historical frame! Love this one! Wasn't it spray bombed a weird pinkish/light orangy color or something like that too? I'd love to see those original pics posted here if possible. BTW, was the broken front end still attached when it was found? I'm very curious about the single vs. double head gussets on these first fames. I just can't remember if you still had - or had seen - the original front end on this one. In terms of the original finish, when this frame was stripped/prepped for painting, whoever did it would hopefully have seen what the original finish was... It may be a long shot, but maybe you could check that out, I'm also interested in knowing. I'm attaching that early ad for the 1st run of Super X frames (top right corner) again. There is also these nice pics of a Super X survivor which I find really interesting and very close to that ad. I think the local bike shops may have been supplementing certain parts on these first versions as well. We were still seeing that crossover/hybrid happening with late 60's muscle bikes and early 70's BMX. Me LIKEY. COOL O.S. "custom" survivor!! (referring to the above "chopper"
  8. Looks to me like it DOES have the coaster brake "tab"... perhaps I'm seeing things.
  9. Those decals are pretty nice. Way too nice to replace. The bike is worth more like it is. +1 . why the hell are people so quick to replace decals . just clean and hand polish the frame up and call it good . Because when you're PATIENT you find NOS decals for $22 & make it look BRAND NEW Foo. WHY would I leave such crappy looking decals on such a COOL frame when they can be replaced?
  10. Found my friend's old Navajo Jr. ? (16.5" toptube). I was gonna get it polished up & possibly replace the stickers if someone doesn't save me the trouble. Considering selling it since I cannot use it. Wanted to ask if anyone was familiar w/ this fork (similiar to "Patterson" designs then - same builder I heard)?
  11. Got me some (I believe). I found an old ('83 or 4) Navajo Jr. frame (16 1/2" top tube) w/ what I thought were "Navajo" forks. Heard from another old-skooler that the same designer/ builder could have made these forks for Navajo. Navajo moved from Texas to Arizona around this time. Perhaps they did not "manufacture" their own forks then but used the "Patterson" forks instead. You be the judge. Perhaps not... see attached pics: These also resemble an old Redline fork I remember. Unsure which year/ model but almost identical.
  12. I have a rear SONLITE & the comments re: the titanium rear axle are puzzling me... I have NOT rebuilt or "exchanged" axles on this one I have, but I can tell from the color it is steel & NOT titanium either. Were early generations of these only steel & later offered w/ titanium axles as an option? This came from a Pro Racer around 1983 I believe.
  13. HEY!! Wanted to add I got a call from a friend this week to help him rebuild/renew an old bmx bike he had for his son. Guess what it was?? I had never heard of Racers Eng. but knew it was an old "Mongoose" frame from the stickers that remained (luckily). I will post a pic soon. This one is nickel plated. Does anyone know a cleaner/ polisher that will work well w/ this material & not degrade or damage it in the process? This thing is in TERRIBLE shape (of course but that is where the fun begins in restorations.
