  1. I'd probably want a brand new SuperCross EVO-is race bike since I already have a 2008 GT Fueler (SCOPEDOG) for all my Street/Dirt needs. Still haven't been able to hit up the BMX track here in San Antonio to ride it out yet, but I'm still pushing for it. Last half of 2008 turned out to be a doozy in more ways than one.
  2. Same here... tore up Medical Centre San Antonio (as in hard riding not criminal shit) area pimpin' it. Gonna' have to buy another soon. Does OS-BMX have any baseball style hats?
  3. Been busy as hell lately, having gotten back into the Security Enforcement field, finally with a kick ass PSC, who actually pays their SEOs what they're worth, so I haven't been on the boards much... but upon seeing this thread I gotta' throw down. I still feel totally dumb most of the time, since most of you have forgotten more about BMX than I know (and I'm happy with my '83 Mongoose Californian and '08 GT Fueler/Scopedog and don't see a need to buy anymore for awhile), so I don't know what to say really. Thing is, this place does have some nice and interesting people, and it's a treasure trope of knowledge, for that I've been greatful. So... $25.00 SENT! Wish I could contrib more but I can't right now. But I have bought (3) shirts so far, and joined the "Premiere" contributors thingy 18 posts in, so it's not like I don't support a place I respect and enjoy. Hopefully one day I'll be able to talk bikes all day, sadly though... I know what I know, lurk a lot, and post when I can. Hope that helps Steve. "PEACE OUT"
  4. There was only ONE bike I thought just looked like shit, spoke protectors and all, and it was the Huffy SIGMA... {Note the above photo isn't mine it's currently up on Craigslist but a quick Google brought it up... Link is here} The particular SIGMA that comes to mind was a blue version of the one pictured, and this prick kid Chason used to ride one in the zip code I grew up in. Motherfucker always thought we was so cool too. Not only did I hate the looks of the SIGMA but I absolutely HATED that dude. Really makes me a nevermind in 2008, but thinking back on it it still urks me. What urks me more is that I rode on one as a loaner for about (4) months after my Kuwahara got gleeped from me in 1988. I'm a happy dude these days with my '83 Mongoose Californian and '08 GT Fueler though. But this thread is about the bikes we hated.
  5. Well that depends on what you mean by "ride it". If you're like me, then you want to do serious *hard riding* on the street, offroad/trails and even a devoted track (still haven't managed that one yet), and I've found that it can get expensive (or at least time consuming) trying to keep the old school bikes ready for action. Within less than a month I blew out the freewheel on the '81 Sting Comp I got off a member here on eBAY, though it's fixed again... and my '83 RAD Mongoose Califorian's seat post clamp ended up shot (now I need another one), from having to keep reajusting it. Both those bikes of mine however, while in Great condition by my standards aren't nowhere near as beautiful as that Haro you have. Honestly, I'd say ride it for like half an hour or something, carefully... [already I've had idiots try to take my 2008 GT SCOPEDOG with me on it, but I wasn't having that] and then put it up. If you live in a CHL state, I'd get one and carry concealed while riding, I know I'll be doing that shortly myself. But that's just me.
  6. I just blew my load. Mighty fine looking bike and a good purchase.
  7. He actually maintains all aspects of that lawn himself. Now that he's retired US Postal Service (20 years) and USAF (23 years), he's enjoying being a grandpa to my daughter Fyana [and soon to be here Jake, my son] and spends his time in the yard, fishing or out at the rifle range with me, or hunting. He still has the professional grade mowers from when he and I used to do off and on again lawn service together back in 2003. But I think he's going to move before long, so that house I've known for 29 years of my 30 will become "another memory" before long. Stone's throw away from Lackland AFB, probably the reason he bought it so he wouldn't have to drive too far to the MOB Dorms of the 3706 squadron bitd. BTW he said: "Thanks for the compliments about my lawn. I try, but that's all I can do." Me I don't get the pleasure of doing the lawn because I live in a townhome condo, and it sucks because I'm not allowed to Bar-B-Q here due to some city ordance, so I usually end up travelling to pop's house to do that. *LOL* Gettin' the old man back out on his bike though, so he'll be on his NEXT road bike and I'll be on the SCOPEDOG. There was a time he pushed me to be in better shape and always be ready, now it's my turn to assist him as he needs the motivation.
  8. Lookin' good for me showing up as of this moment. Haven't had the pleasure of riding downtown Austin yet, what time will you be there on the 13th, as I'm still figuring that the 14th date is for 2AM of the upcomming morning from the 13th [saturday Night] ??? I don't mind showing up earlier in the day at all. Link up points? For me first stop overs are usually PLAYERS hamburgers off of MLK BLVD next to the Dobie Mall, or Cheapos Discs across from a 7-11 off of Lamar Blvd just before hitting 10th Street. If you want to link up earlier, those are possible places. Yeah I'm loving the SCOPEDOG indeed. Almost had a nasty wipeout a few days ago thanks to some A-Hole who tried to push me out of a bike lane no less, in my mother in law's sub division... but I managed to recover while on the downhill slope and made it look like it was an intentional "I'm Rad" kind of manuever. Thanks. It's my father's lawn actually as I live in a town home condo, but I'm sure he'd love to hear the compliment. Ahhh... Corpus, I'd like to live there actually, but with all the hurricanes and stuff all the time I don't see the point. Plus I don't dig the whole "Flesh Eating Bacteria" and sand lice and stuff that seems so prevalent these days at the coast. But riding balls out along Shoreline BLVD and Ocean Drive is something I want to do in the future.
  9. Mark me down for (1) black XL "as pictured" on page 1. just let me know when they become re-available and when to send payment. and if you ever do a full racing pants & jersey project I'd be interested in that too. I've actually been picturing this in my mind lately, kind of like where Team USA had USA on the bottom legs would say: OS-BMX.COM, or something. I dunoo if this is what ya'll were referring to with "jersey" but I'm thinking both pants & long sleeve rider/jersey top for a Future Procurement. Haven't been here long but I love this place.
  10. Happy Birthday Ant! Thanks for making me feel welcome on my short time here... It's a "Chicks of BMX" birthday for you. Aussie hottie Nicole Callisto. Don't know what you think about her {Shanaze Reade} but I dig both her riding and her looks. Exotic! Rock on!
  11. Well outside of the texas mike, BMX2112 & lonestars thread I haven't really discussed it, but after riding my old school rides hard, I finally took the plundge and purchased me a modern/new school ride. I have to say I was skeptical, but I'm a believer now. Of course I wouldn't be my eccentric self if I didn't "Customize" my bike, thus what should be a 2008 GT Fueler, is now... ...yeah, put some pads on the bike, looks odd but it's OS in an odd way. Reppin' the community/site of course. The VOTOMS {that's a 1983 Japanimation TV show} inspired SCOPEDOG no less. After much research and getting some good intel from the guys at Action Bikes in Universal City down here outside of San Antonio, I realized I needed something built like a tank... and it is. Thus the namesake is perfect. Love this bike! Though I'll never stop riding that "RAD" Mongoose, I learned the hard way that hard riding an old school bike just means replacing parts and possibly destroying a chrome piece of history. Can't do that, so I'm officially in the 21st Century BMX wise, figured I'd celebrate and represent on the boards. Still hoping to attend that shindig in Austin on the 14th, but still remains to be seen. Sucks, didn't have Internet for 48 hours, and it was only after this fact that I realized just how much I use a computer. Well, guess an old dog can learn new tricks. Now I just gotta' get this sucka' out to the track. Took BMX2112's advice though and lowered the seat a bit more, after major back pains leaning over too much and a night of Icy Hot patches. *LOL* GOOD TIMES
  12. This guy rocks. While not a freestyler myself, it's great to see someone get on the horse again and do their thing, especially juggling the family and stuff. I'm kind of going through that right now myself, but just for "getting in the time" to ride. He's got the skillz I'd like to have, but one thing at a time. Thanks for sharing!
  13. So I'm not the only 30something guy with a bum knee? While I can't say I'm happy that you have the same problem, it's also good to know I'm not alone. Hmm... strange logic really. Anyhow, I just wanted to comment that that's a nice ride you got there. Dig the jet black colour indeed. I wanted the SCOPEDOG to be either Navy Blue or Chrome, but apparently GT only makes the Fueler in that Crimson Red, which isn't too bad though. Sadly I've learned almost no one is making the 80s chome bikes any more, and some of the paint schemes I've seen for race bike defies logic IMO. Like I love the frame of the Redline Flight Pro bikes, but I don't care for the black/white and what appears to be circuitry effects on it. Whatever happened to "Chrome" and other solid colors? Guess we can't have it all. I'll have to look into that *Quick Release Seat Clamp myself, wouldn't mind being able to adjust on the fly, but for now I've got mine where it needs to be. And the SCOPEDOG's seat post was a special ordered one that's longer than the standard one the bike comes with, so I'm good. I would've responded earlier to this in particular, but the wife was nagging about "getting mobile" as we had somewhere to be. Hey if you can hook a BMX brother out I'd be grateful in any and all ways man. I love riding the goose no doubt. You wouldn't have a spare layback post would you? I purchased one off ebay for like $18.00 [that's with S&H included] but apparently I bought one that was a bit larger than the seat post I have on the bike! I was going off the photos and it was an honest mistake, but now I'm stuck with a layback post that would've been used as a "Rumble" weapon back in the day, as it's of no use to me now. So what time you think you're rolling into the capitol? If I do end up being able to go (I should know by the 10th), I could be there early or late. Not really a problem. Also I'm wondering if I'm reading that poster right. It says Sunday Sept. 14th @ 2:00AM, but is that actually 2:00AM from Saturday night into what would be Sunday being in reality the 13th... or would it be actually Sunday night into Monday's 2:00AM, which then would actually make the event on the 15th? I'd hate to show up on the wrong night/morning.
  14. Showing up during the day would be better for me anyhow. I'm not really diggin on the whole 2AM thing in all honesty. I'd have to get PUMPED UP on Monster M-80 or Caballo Negro in order to tear it up that early/late. I'm usually going to bed at 2AM not out riding. But I figure if I show up early in the afternoon then it be cool. Of course if you know of some shindig going on I'm all for showing up to that too on 9th Street. If you still have me tele number give me a call and we could figure out where to link up. And yeah, I'll definately be on the GT SCOPEDOG. Peace Out
  15. Since I don't have one of those top racks or the trunk thingy, I usually just have the two front seats of my Chevy Cavalier foward, then place a single bike in the back with the back of the bike up on the back seat and the front wheel behind the driver's seat with the right handle bar just slightly behind the headspace and where the seatbelt meet. I find the bike doesn't move much (if at all) and this way I keep the bike out of the elements. It sucks however, that I can't have any passengers with me when I use this method though.
