  1. Mark, a wrecked GJS is in there LOL the fallen Whitman's (Blk&Orange Vera's) rider ...part 2b at 6:55 that is Tom Arnett and Charlie Danishek (DK founder) helping him back up. Charlie is also racing in the 26" moto!
  2. I remember this bike, yours is in great shape! Araya rims and the Shimano rear hub were pretty cool. I had the single speed Pro Thunder White/Red one for a short time. Nice bike!
  3. DK did make some 22.2 quill stems for MTN bike use, pretty sure this is what you have here. Owl - First Gen. DK stems have always been engraved from day one, never did they come only w/ a sticker.
  4. Super cool thread! Hello my name is Jered and I've worked at dk since 87. Here are some tips to ID your early stems. Here is an early square back pro sized dk with the keyed pin. The very first stems had hollow pins, then a solid the pin was used until 85. Early DK's also used a steel wedge until mid 1980, you can see the wedge angle increased w/ the change to the aluminum wedge. DK received a lot of criticism switching to the alloy wedge, old timers said an alloy wedge would never work,(it actually worked better!) the alloy wedge later became an industry standard. Also in this photo you can see the early knurling vs: the tighter smaller pattern. more to come later.... I love DK !
  5. My first nice complete bmx bike was a White Webco professional. I'd like to get a hold of a frame, I still have the rectangular tube forks.
  6. The spindle might actually be Ti, I really can't remember. Can you post some pics of the cranks & the BB parts?
  7. I sold these BITD and I don't recall PMC's w/ a Ti BB, are you sure it's Ti? I think it's a heat treated Aluminum w/some kind of surface hardning finish. Try dry graphite "master lock" type lube.
  8. Have fun and enjoy the weather; we will have freezing rain here in Ohio.
  9. Yes, the powdercoating did flake off, it wasn't the best job. I doubt the Aluminum was heated up enough to properly cure the powder. Liquid paint may have been a better choice? Was your green stem Lime Green color?
  10. VintageChromoly- What I mean is that it didn't leave the factory with that crack or whatever that is? I agree w/ you about the age and the scuff marks. "Raw Aluminum/Satin sheen"? No you are wrong about that... i guess if you are buying aged polished stems (NOS or used) you could think this. Aluminum does oxide, which over time would take the "Mirror" out of the shine. Silver DK stems were always Polished. Anodized color stems were at first polished before ano, and at a later date brushed before ano. There were also powdercoated DK stems.
  11. I would ask for better quality pics and from all angles; it's too hard to tell what is going on w/ these photos. I highly doubt a stem left the factory w/ a blem like that. DK Stems always came in high mirror polished, each piece was done by hand. They were machined from Billet, the back corners were cut on a horizontal mill, you can see the this process being done in the background of this bike photo: http://www.dkbicycles.com/completes.html?c...iklon/main.html Seeing used DK stem that is cracked is a very rare site, I don't think i've ever seen one cracked where this one appears to be?
  12. wow.... these are nice pics from the Ft. ! Did you shoot these? Do you have any more?
