  1. Figure out a way to pimp the factory boys for our shade trees back!!
  2. Scott, It was so good to CYA at the Chula Vista race and get to shake your hand. You will always be the hero I remember as a young kid proudly wearing an SE Hot Shop Jersey. I just finished restoring my original 1980 Quad and will have it on display in Roseville. Good Luck and may god continue to give you the strength to beat and recover. Still a fan, Carson
  3. OK, Thats where I learned the switch drivers without stopping trick! I now remember that scenario plain as day, I also rememember learning to drive a motorhome the exact same way when Joe wanted a break and Bill was still chilling. I went on one of the trips with Jon Anderson, (Lubbock, Texas I think.) There were a few (hundreds) of road signs with AR-15 rounds thru them between Cali and Central US. I checked your Atwater thread. Too funny, I was also on one of the SE Hot Shop Teams. I tried to post some pics but too big I guess. I'm sure we crossed paths during that era as I rememember most of the tracks you have pictured. I was always a age group or two above Jon, except the occasional cruiser race. He ran me into a cattle gate in Red Bluff, CA one night at the finish line and we stood off for a moment, but always got over it. Gotta admit the skinny little ---t was fast! Anyway sorry to hi-jack the Paterson thread. Brent and Brian were great guys. I had the privilage of sharing a room with Brian in Prescott, Arizona during a 10 day summer clinic. I've still got a large stack of Paterson Decals that I will most likely sell off some day. Hope you make it to Roseville
  4. Cool, I will keep an eye out. Yep I actually turn 42 on Thursday. I remember traveling with the Stams to Texas, Oklahoma, Arizona in their motorhome. Crazy Times. We would stop in New Mexico on the reservation to visit their relatives and go crazy shooting stuff with some pretty cool guns at the time. Sounds like they are still into guns and game. I have many relatives in the Merced/Atwater area so we most likely crossed paths at one of those tracks back in the day. I will most likely be wearing a BMX Hex jersey with my name on the back. My sponsor is one of the bike shop vendors at the West Coast Nationals, so I will either be in our team pits or over in the show area. Both of my Quads are SE Blue and if I can get there early enough I will also have a canopy in the OS Reunion/Show area to chill in. If you can reach Joe let me know
  5. Nope not John, Carson Johnson, I was from Redding, CA and 14-16 at the time. During the summers or national trips mom would take me down to the Stams house for training and support. We would usualy meet at one of the local tracks around Napa or Fairfield if I remember correctly. Several times I got thrown in with Joe and Crazy Ronnie at those locals to get schooled on cruiser. Your recolection of pops focus and Joes torment are exactly how I remember. My best racing was during those times and actually placed top 3 many times with Ellis and DY while under the Stams coaching. Wasnt to long after my time with them that I had to move on with work, girls, car, ect.......Got back into the sport in 2000 and still loving it. I will be at Roseville this weekend racing 41-45 cruiser and showing my fresh restored SE Quads (1980 and 1998)
  6. Contender, Any idea where the Stams are now? Joe and pops used to train/co sponsor me and I traveled with them all over the US in 83. CJ
