  1. I remember the place, but no pictures. I went to at least one freestyle show there. I remember that it was cool to have a shop with lots of good bikes and a track right there.
  2. The famous Pixie incident was at the Scwhinn shop Jim worked at before. If I remember the story, he got mad at a little Schwinn Pixie and somehow bent the frame around the repair stand. THe customer arrived and Jim somehow managed to straighten it before they saw it. Was that it? There's also the Jan Vander Tuin rim gluing job and the time Jim threw a wheel out the back door. What a story teller he is!
  3. Reilly1, I worked with Jim Langley before you did, from 1979 to 1981 at the West Hill Shop in Putney, Vermont. Jim is a great example of a great bike mechanic. The shop wasn't the same without him, though the next guy, Don Cuerdon, otherwise known as Captain Dondo, definitely brought something to it. I worked part time and then worked full-time there from 1982 to 2007.
  4. On my small ramp in 1986... Those were fun.
  5. Or this now identified old Jag... http://www.os-bmx.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=31883
  6. Huh. I don't think I've ever really seen a Jag up close. Until now, I guess! Thanks abomb and k-i-w.
  7. I saw this at a place I was working. My brother saw it once before and sort of mentioned to the owner, but didn't get any info out of him. Probable owner is in his 40s, from New Jersey originally. I'd like to see if it can be identified so we can see whether we should find out if it's available. It seems pretty solid, just beat up. There's no fork or parts around. My first good bike was a 1980 Mongoose. Similar, I suppose, but not the same. It's black, probably repainted. No decals or head badge. Serial number seems to be 77108 with OE8 (or something) above it. Solid gussets with full welds along edges. Rectangular chainstay bridge with no holes in it. Flat brake bridge. Loop tail.
  8. The show I went to in Williamstown, Massachusetts on July 18, 1986 had Dizz, Ceppie, Greg Kove, and Gary Pollak with McGoo as the announcer. The poster I got just had Dizz, Ceppie, and Greg.
  9. Ya think?? http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...A:IT&ih=006 Well, I'll reply to that. I've been selling stuff that I've had kicking around for years and I can't believe some of the prices! For example this post -- I think the buyer is on here, too. I will say that everything I list on eBay I start at .99 with no reserve. I feel like I have nothing to lose -- I used these parts years ago and if someone wants to pay a lot for it they can. I get to clean out my basement and catch up on my bills and somebody else gets a part for their collection. I don't see a need to slam eBay. I've been able to sell some stuff and make some connections with some people. And, although I knew about this site, I was redirected to it by one of my buyers. (Yeah, Josh.)
  10. Josh, Nice pics. Looking good. My driveway is still filled with snow! What's fun is going to the local skatepark with my son and not being one of the dads who drops their kid off. When I get the bike out I get some looks - grey hair and all! Thanks for pointing me to this site. Bevan
