  1. The stem is a Suntour Power Stem. Thanks for the 'props' guys... appreciated.. Dave
  2. This probably won't mean a lot to you guys 'stateside' but this is fairly rare model from the Raleigh Burner range. Frameset made by KOIZUMI (Japan). This is my Summer Rider for this year.... bit of Orange to brighten up the English Summer. And the obligatory 50mm F1.4 Prime shots... Hope you guys like...
  3. A couple of white sheets / some pegs and a decent camera... The rest is done is CS5... These are the latest 3 builds I have completed a few weeks ago...
  4. Been meaning to get some of my builds 're-shot'... so while Emma was out today I set up a bit of studio and got busy... These are some of my more recent builds and some older ones... all have been seen before but thought you might like to see them again.. 're-shot'. MK1 TUFF BURNER (As featured on Ch5 Gadget Show ) MK1 ULTRA BURNER MK1 SUPER TUFF BURNER TEAM AERO PRO BURNER CHROME AERO PRO BURNER CRAIG SCHOFIELD 1984 REPLICA CRAIG SCHOFIELD 1985 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP BIKE RALEIGH CROMO BURNER (KOISUMI) NIGHT CUSTOM thanks for looking..
  5. Yeah the standard NIGHT BURNER was a geometry nightmare (as was most of the standard Burner range) and made of mild steel... So this is my concept at bringing the best of the Night Burner and putting it into one the best Raleigh BMX bikes they sold.. the MK2 Cromo.
  6. ..I haven't built myself a bike for well over a year, and that was my Team Aero Pro Race Bike... And before that it was my Chrome Aero Pro, which is slowly getting as close to factory spec as is possible. I've always been a fan of 'custom' builds, as long as they are done with taste and a lot of thought. I've had this build on the go for the past 12 months and several times I just lost interest in it because of various 'nuggets' that continue to blight this fantastic hobby... but the last bits arrived yesterday so I spent the morning putting her together. Two of my favourite models from the Raleigh Burner range are the MK2 Cromo (Koisumi Frame & Forks) and the Night Burner. I love the geometry and build quality of the Koisumi Frameset and always had a soft spot for the Night Burner colour scheme with its smoke over chrome finish. We've has a glut of Night Burner 'style' builds in the past few weeks and at one point after a vague text from spike371 I thought my idea was already being built... So here it is... My MK2 CROMO 'NIGHT' BURNER (Koisumi Frameset). I didn't want standard Night Burner decals, because it isn't a Night Burner, its a Cromo Burner so I had decals made up that are in the 'style' of the Night Burner but also identify this bike as a Cromo. SPECIFICATION Frameset - Mk2 Cromo (Koisumi) Bars - Aero Pro Bars Wheels - Araya Aeros with Suzue Hubs. Tyres - COMP III - Rainbow Labels Crank - 175mm Sugino Seat - Kashimax Aero Post - Strongs with Red Insert Clamp - Suntour Stem - Suntour Brakeset - DC MX1000 with Tech 3 Levers Grips - Tange Original STRONGS seat post, rechromed and trimmed with Red Insert.. Its been such a long build, collecting parts etc... in an attempt not offend anyone who has helped with supplying parts I'm just gonna say.. "You know who you are and you are all legends of this hobby... I thank you!". I'm not sure what I'm gonna do with the bike now its built, whether its gonna be stored with my small collection or whether it might be raffled off for Christmas. Hope you guys like it....
  7. The moment the 'Legend' was re-united with a piece of BMX history... 25 years this year since Craig Rode this bike to WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP GLORY... Fortunately for me... I get to keep the bike for a few more months... Craig would like it to be seen by as many people as possible so I am keeping hold of it till after MK'10 and it'll be making appearances at as many Old Skool Events as I can get it to. Thanks for your kind comments and help with this build. Dave
  8. In August 1985 Craig Schofield travelled along with the rest of the RALEIGH BMX TEAM to the World Championships in Whistler, Canada. Craig came home with the World Title in his class…. Superclass 20 inch 1. Craig Schofield - Great Britain 2. Xavier Redois - France 3. Phil Hoogendoorn - Holland 4. Leon Walravens - Holland 5. Luc Koehler - France 6. Nicolas Preece - Great Britain 7. Carlos Carrizosa - Mexico 8. Claude Vuillemot – France And what was he riding… yep… a Raleigh Team Aero Pro Burner. In 2006 while making preparations for the 2nd Burner Bash I had this notion that it would be real cool to get some of the ex-factory riders who rode for the Raleigh BMX team to come along and see the bikes and present the Show & Shine trophies. Never did I think I’d be able to achieve this, but if you don’t try you never know. Obviously the name that is most synonomous with Raleigh BMX and in fact UK BMX is that of Andy Ruffell. And the stalwart of the Raleigh Team was the man himself Craig Schofield. After a bit of internet research I managed to get hold of contact emails for both of them, never did I expect a reply but both guys got in touch. To cut a long story short Craig has been kind enough to be special guest at 3 out of the last 4 Burner Bash events that we have held and this year Andy will be joining us for the first time… its like a Raleigh BMX dream come true. Over the past few years I have chatted fairly regularly with Craig via email and text message, but it was one Saturday afternoon in January 2009 that I got a text from Craig quite out of the blue (I was sat outside the changing room’s in NEXT waiting for my wife who was trying something on.) “Hi Dave, I have my WORLDS bike from 85 in boxes in the garage, I’d like you to restore and rebuild it for me, let me know. Craig” As you can imagine the smile on my face was something to behold. A few weeks later parts of the bike started landing at my address and PROJECT: Schofield85 began. Now how do you go about a resto like this, if the parts had been in decent survivor condition I’d have built it as a survivor, but a lot of them were just too far gone to fix to a freshly coated Frameset. I’ve spent a lot of times sourcing the missing parts but with help of just 2 photo’s and the inside knowledge of Darren Wood I have rebuilt Craig’s bike for him. Its not a PRISTINE 'see your face in the bottom bracket' build, its VERY nice though. I was so cautious not to ‘over-restore’ items and I didn’t want to use repro parts (sadly the original padsets just don’t exist in any useable condition). The Raleigh decals are NOS and you can tell, they are not in perfect condition but the colours are obviously correct and they add to the authenticity of the build. Here’s a breakdown of the parts that are actual surviving parts from Craig’s World Championship winning Team Aero Pro Burner. ORIGINAL Frame & Forks GT Pro Bars ESP Flying W Stem GT Seatpost (bent to suit) Redline Flight Cranks Hutch Beartrap Pedals Redline Chainring Suzue Sealed Bearing Hubs Green & Yellow Label Comp II Tyres MRD Race Plate All other parts I have had to source. MX1000 & Tech Levers DC Cables (stamped 83 – looking for an 85 set if someone has some). White Kashimax Aero Suntour Seat Clamp Chrome Araya 7X’s Decals (NOS) Padset (Repro) Craig has only seen it via a Text Message but is thrilled to bits, he’ll be seeing it in the flesh on Saturday.. I hope I have done it justice, not all the replacement parts are NOS and some have the odd mark on but I think that adds to the build. And before anyone jumps on me… I know the grips are wrong, well they are wrong and they are right, the bike he won the Worlds on in 1985 had A’me Unitrons, but they were BLUE with RED inners, these are the only ones I have been able to find in the reserve colour option (And I owe a huge debt to Bren (Ron Burgandy) who gave me this set FOC!). These will hopefully be replaced if and when the right ones appear. Its been an honour and a pleasure building this bike for Craig, recreating a piece of BMX history, not just for the Raleigh nutters but for UK BMX…. Craig Schofield – 1985 WORLD CHAMPION – Team Aero Pro Burner. How's this for an Historic Raleigh BMX Line-Up. ALL ORIGINAL RALEIGH TEAM AERO PRO'S 1984 - Craig Schofield Replica / 1985 - Craig Schofield WORLDS / 2010 - Dave Hall Old Skool Race Bike. My 84' Replica has had a couple of bits upgraded since it won Bike Of The Show at last years Burner Bash & 3rd place at the Preston Old Skool Grands. A'me Grips with the correct Logo (Bubble) Single Pinch Redline Flights (now with correct fittings JJ ) Its gonna be difficult letting this go back to Craig... Hope you guys like...
  9. When I got the first one... the one that is now RED... I did loads of research and struggled to find anything about them. Apparently they were the signature frame & forks for..... The serial number pattern leads me to believe that there was only 100 made....???? anyone know any more info on these?
  10. The red one has GT forks sadly... only got that one as a Frame unfortunately... RED VERSION - Frame No. 05920083 CHROME VERSION - Frame No. 05920086 So yes.. both 1992... As for being RARE... have a look around the web and let me know how many you can find... I know antdog on here has one.
  11. Well I thought I was lucky when I got hold of my first Robinson Amtrac (courtesy of Zippy). Its been my race bike since the Winter '07 race series... and I absolutely adore it. Last summer I (along with a few others) got the sniff of a NOS F&F's that Jai Kemp sold at MK'08... after many a PM and chat with generallee I am now the proud of owner of my SECOND Robinson Amtrac... The Frame & Forks are 1992... so in some sections of the BMX world this is Mid-School... but I have dressed this baby as an Old School beauty... (with the exception of the modern redlines). Huge thanks go to: generallee and firebird (as always!!).. thanks fella's. These are a very rare model and I have only managed to locate half a dozen examples in the WORLD. So I consider myself to be VERY lucky to own TWO!! It wasn't until tonight that decided to check the Serial No's on these two... how close is this!!! RED VERSION - Frame No. 05920083 CHROME VERSION - Frame No. 05920086
  12. Yes they are TANGE made... and almost identical to the Laserlite. Raleigh used them for their TOP model the Aero Pro, which was available in Team Colours (like Craig's) and also in Chrome, I finished this one last week as well. My TWO favourite builds so far....
  13. Like many thousands of kids for Christmas I got a copy of the 1985 Raleigh BMX Annual. Full of glorious Pictures of Team Riders Andy Ruffell, Craig Schofield and Karen Murphy, it even had a chapter on Team Manager Sam Wood... I think I read that book from cover to cover every week for years!! One picture I distinctly remember is this one.. of UK BMX Hero Mr.Schofield. Sat astride the bike he raced during 1984... his race spec Team Aero Pro. Little did I know that 25 years later Craig Schofield would become a friend of mine and that I'd speak to him on a regular basis. Some of you will know that I am currently restoring Craig's 1985 World Championship Winning Bike, something which I still have to pinch myself about  Sadly when the 1985 is complete it will be going back to Craig, where it belongs. BUT.... I do have this to soften blow... I completed this on Saturday morning of the Burner Bash, just in time for Craig himself to check out... My very own 'Replica' of Craig Schofield's 1984 Team Aero Pro. (I know she is not 100% correct yet.. but when funds allow she will be the full monty) I was thrilled to bits that it walked away with TWO trophies at the Bash as well... BEST PRO BURNER & BEST OF THE BASH Many Thanks to those who were there and voted for her... The icing on the cake was seeing the thrill on Craig's face when he spotted her lined up in the Bash Marquee... He was blown away... [special Thanks on this build go to: buttsbikeshop, jonnyboybmx, mike0310, esemdesign and other whose names escape me]
  14. Was out on her on Sunday... managed a 5th in the final...
