  1. I actually thought about doing it as a belt drive : )
  2. In the fall of 2009 I got a titanium jones… I have had a number of conversations over the last few years with bike friends about building a custom titanium pump track bike, a Ti P, if you will. As a metal, Ti has a great ride to it, but is usually real flexy. If you were going to make a Ti P, for pump tracks, BMX tracks, dirt jumping, it would have to be extra beefy to stay stiff enough to provide a great ride. I have a Dean Titanium mountain bike from the early 90’s, my first high end mountain bike (and still in my collection), so I dropped an email to Dean to ask them about the possibilities of a super custom frame. They don’t do anything like a DJ frame, but they were open to the idea. I knew what I wanted to do geometry and sizing wise, and Ieft tubing selection, tubing gauges, and gusset concerns to them. This frame was the result of many back and forths with Dean, and sports some very hard to find Ti tubing, diameter and wall thickness wise. To complete the build I went with a Fox Float 36 fork, Azonic Outlaw wheelset, Hope stem, Intense Micro Knobbies, Sunline V One bar, Twenty6 pedals and a VeloSolo single speed spacer kit. To add more BMX flavor to it, I used a Redline pivotal saddle, my fave Shimano DX lever (necessitating a cable disc brake- Avid BB7) and my favorite touch, the 40th Anniversary Profile BMX box cranks. Visually the bike came out great, I am really pleased with it. I have ridden it at pump tracks, around the neighborhood, and I have raced it at the County Line BMX track here in Denver. Racing again this weekend. It is a blast to ride. It is stiff and responsive, but has a definite Ti feel to it as well. Smooth. Quick specs: Headtube angle- 69.7 Seattube angle- 71.7 Stay length- 14.5″-16″ BB height- 12.8″ Effective top tube- 23.5″ Wheelbase- 41.6″
  3. You want the real deal? Yes, I'll take this deal. Who the hell is that?!?!?!?!???!
  4. I emailed about these, whether they were just old school "style" or actual 80's pants. He claims they are 80's legit, from his bike shop. He also has a few different Redline variations, many sizes as well. The SE/OM guys are selling "old school" NOS Aero SE pants as well. All the NOS Aero listings sure makes it seems like they are a new product, but prospectator is claiming legit...
  5. I have started racing this bike, late '08 season in Colorado
  6. Yep, that is a superstar build, one of the best in quite some time.
  7. Juan in a Million should make a fresh play for that bike...
  8. I saw another collector build up one of these baby blue 24" Quads, and I was so impressed that I finally decided to pull the trigger on one myself. Turned out great, rides even better. Great pump track bike! I had the S&M Motoman sprocket sitting in my parts box for a while, waiting for the right build, and it seems to go very well with this one : ) Mid school SE cruiser bars S&M Motoman fits in well My Quad and Matt's Redline at the pump track this weekend
  9. I'll be there as well, being bald, living large...
  10. certainly these are very few and far between, but it is going to be tough for anyone to compete with that history and SN : ) i did just about Jack Squat to build my Squareback Pit, but i did lay out a few nickels to get it...
  11. i have had this NOS frameset for a few years...
  12. i almost forgot this story! last summer, at my shop, we caught a kid lighting a fire in the dry brush. he ran, but i caught him. cops came, so did some irate parents. kid was 10, bawling, and pitiful. cops ASSURED me that if i didn't press charges (no damage was done) he would get community service, he would have to take fire safety classes across the street at the fire house, blah blah blah. i agreed not to press. turns out he slipped through the cracks, no community service done, and his mom called him in "sick" to the fire courses. he has lit 5 more neighborhood fires since then. i shat you not. i learned my lesson. press press press.
