My mid school pk ripper ebay score
hollywood763 replied to hollywood763's topic in Riding, Research & Collecting
yep it's anodized blue. I didn't know they still did anodizing in the mid 90's til I got this one. thanks for all the compliments! -
just got this PK on ebay. love this bike. looks like I won't have the trouble with this one like a lot of the looptails did with cracking the seat mast, so I won't be afraid to ride this one. but I'm not sure what the bars are though, there are no markings on it and there is gnurling where the brake levers attach. are these SE bars? or generic chromoly bars?

My cousin has this in his barn in Wisconsin, anyone know anything about these? years? serial #'s? should I bother getting this from him? any info would be appreciated

here's the rotor assembly he finally gave me. would this be the correct ACS rotor that came on these? -

I put on a set of cranks and sprocket off of a diamondback mike dominguez freestyler and the pedals that were on the torker when I got it. it did change the look a bit, not sure if I want to powder it up now. I talked to the dude I got the bike from yesterday and he said he found something for the bike thats "shaped like a can of chew" so I'm assuming its the rotor setup. -

I have the original pedals but no white gumwall tires. those might be tough to track down also. I do need all the cables to set up the brakes properly too. this might be a dumb question, but what does "OG" stand for? original maybe? -

it is a cool survivor, I got this for a half case of PBR. I did have a few parts in my garage off of a diamondback freestyler mike dominguez model that was the same color blue/white. sold the frame/forks/bars and have all the parts off it and put some of those on this torker. like the mags, seat, seat clamp, and the rear blake caliper/both levers. and the seatpost and pedals were off something else. bmx2112. could you post a picture of the decals you have? or PM me if you want to sell a set? -

been spending the last few days planning out exactly what to do with this torker. this is a killer bike and a blast to ride, but I just don't dig the baby blue/white combo. I plan on tearing it down and powder coating the frame, forks, bars, and chainring. I plan on powdering the chainring white, and the frame/fork red. here's where I'm having trouble deciding....... should the bars get white powder coat? or red like the frame/fork? white would balance out the bike, but the red would match up with the frame/fork good too. and does anyone know what rotor these came with? -
friday he gave me a set of bars that he thought came with it when he got it. they look like a match to me.

yeah the pic did post on the other site, I saw it. what part of Philly are you at? my wife is from Clifton heights PA

Ben, after years of reading these threads about DG's and the serial number mystery that was the best explanation I've read to date. for years I've always assumed that the last number of the serial number on the 78 to 81 DG's was the year, only because I got mine in 79 and the last number on mine is a 9. I've tried for years to get ANY info from the current DG performance and they really have no interest in giving up any info. or they just don't have any idea who could answer any questions about the bikes. the best thing they did was send me a sticker pack and a letter saying they sold the rights to the bikes years ago.
