  1. +1 on this - I have a NOS pro-racer decal set with the red rub-on decal.
  2. Very very cool thread - the more time I spend in this hobby the more appreciation I'm getting for orig stuff, take seat clamps for example - I've shelled out for 2 Hutch seatclamps, they're very blingy, I'm happy with the price paid and they look the part, however with more projects on the go I didn't want to spend that sort of $$ again - then I remembered an old Tange clamp I found at the tip many moons ago, it's been sitting in the spares box for ages. Well bugger me - a bit of anno stripping and some work on the buffer wheel it's looking a million dollars! Gives the polished Hutch clamps a run for their money - and at $5 (to buy the clunker bike it was on at the tip) it's a bargain!! Pedals - I'd love some DX's but have yet to find some for a realistic price - I've grabbed some nos KKT AMXs in the meantime - yeah they're lower spec but they're finished nicely - best of all they're REAL old school, and cheap!!!!
  3. I've been racing my 'retro'(?) Hutch XL24 for a while now, and love it!! 1984 U.S. made HutchXL24 fitted with double wall rims, sealed hubs, euro (via adaptor) sealed crank set, 'v' brakes (via adaptor). Something different and she mixes well with the new stuff.
  4. They're U.S. made from the serial no.ed frame series (inside l/h frame drop out stamping) 1983-84ish, (if that's a vent hole at the bottom(?))
  5. It's possibly more the frame geometry over wheel size for me, I built a GT 20" a while back and immediatley didn't like it, 18.5" t/t was just too short, I currently race a XL24 and it's sweet, sure I believe the wheel size makes them more stable but I do believe the frame dimensions play a big part too! I have a nice Pro-Racer and that is a nice machine to ride, however my newly built Judge has made me do a double take - 20.5" t/t with old school looks - and it's really sweet to ride - I put that down purely to a better fitting frame design.
  6. She's a ripper machine either way, although I do like the aero seat a tad more. Adjust that caliper!!
  7. Cool machine, I like the pre-built pic!
  8. Great stuff - dad of the year entry for this month! A quick question - I would have thought a vertical finish would have been needed on the ramp to send bike/rider straight up?? Don't know - I've never built one.
  9. Great story & pics guys, diggin' the non-chrome Hutchs too! Mmm, I've been wanting to change the look of one of my rides - might be time to crack the spray-can out!
  10. WOW - I've read through this thread a few times, and I can't believe the attitude of some people! Sure the hutch products might not be for you, but what's with all the testorone overloaded bravado here? The profanity and 'hollier than thou' carry-on is a little juvenile don't you think?? I thought we were here as old school BMX enthusiasts, the difference in our builds, products liked, racer/freestyle preference, new-issue likes or dislikes should all contribute to a rich diversity of interests in the hobby. It's all BMX!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some of you blokes need to have a look at yourselves.
  11. Sweet stuff, they will be a nice pair! Looks like the cruiser seat tube has been cut down?!? Of interest on the 24, the rear drop serial is on the out side, chain side - easy to say that the drops were welded on opposite sides, but I have seen a few like this now, mine is welded this way also - maybe they were intended to be like this??
