  1. Great job guys. As far as year. Here is what Ive got forsure. Photo number 7 page one is a straight up 1969 Camaro without a doubt with the rear quarter panel, behind it is a dead straight 1970-1971 BOSS FORD 351 MUSTANG. In the parking lot is a 1971 Chevy Elcamino. All the kids are non BMX bikes with ape hangers. To me this year screams 1974-1975. But this is my guess based on the cars and the bikes.
  2. My mom and dad still live at this address you have pinpointed. 1 block west of desoto at Independence avenue in canoga park. It is where I grew up and and mom and dad still live there today. Been there for 38 years. You got the horse property correct along with the stables. That whole area was zoned RA1 for horse property. Some of the ranches were abandonded sold and leveled. In-between them building new track homes we had a (2 acre track and grew to 5 acres over several years) area there to ride for about 1 or 2 summers from my memory but that wasnt until late 70s through early 80's. Every blue moon the rich kids would show up and ride their trail 70's or larger dirt bikes and tear the place up and get chased out by the neigbors or cops who didnt want a dust bowl mess and left the dirt area to us BMX kids. This may or may not have been the place you rememeber. Not sure. But when you said Desoto and Indpendence in Canoga Park thats my home where I grew up and thats what happened there with having dirt jumps and a suito track for us to get some air, jump shopping carts from the local thrify mart which is now a Sam Ash music shop. Great photos of the valley and kids just being kids. You dont see that much if at all anymore. Makes me all warm inside remembering the childhood and growing up with BMX and the valley.
  3. You are very welcome Claude. I was happy to do it and be a part of it. There is more to the story about that box, where it came from etc. and boxing up an NOS frame to ship out of my office was really hard to do. Not hard to box up but hard to part with it. But I knew that eventually I had to give in and ship off to Claude. Both pieces were very nice to have around the office for a little while. People thought I was crazy when they saw me custom making a shipping box for just an empty box. I was paranoid with the items. I dont think we will ever see another Cook Bros. frame box with a top anytime soon. You deserve to have this piece with your collection Claude. Your a true friend and I am very thankful to you for all your help you have given me. Tim
  4. Pretty sweet place to ride. Love it. Oakley rocks for making that deal!
  5. WOW! Can't believe all that I read here. But to each their own opinion and viewpoint. Everybody is entitled I guess by being a member here so here’s my take. Not pointing at anybody specific just a general observation. Probably long-winded but have to say my deal here. I've been reading on here for a few years and don't post often. I go to all the events and introduce myself to people and chat about their bikes, ask questions, learn things new and everybody is always super nice and cool. I love that. I use this site for research, collecting parts for my builds and pure total appreciation for what people DO with their bikes. I happen to like things and appreciate things that are old or new. I personally like things that take thought and creativity within my business, sports or hobbies. I like things that make people get off their asses to make something new from scratch from a pure thought, idea or concept and make it a reality for themselves. Good for you Juan for creating something that people will ride or collect. Making something from scratch whatever it is, is a real bitch, especially if multiple people have to touch that part before a finish product can be showcased or a production can be started. I've done it and will continue to do it for as long as I'm around. If you have never done it, give it a try and see it through to the end with a finished product. I think you will be surprised with the amount of energy, talent and resources both financial and connections it takes to make (not collect) a single part or even something as small as a sticker for your old or new school ride. I have much respect for those that can do it. Seems like there's a lot of people that love to bitch and moan about something or another. Juan and the others involved should get a little more credit for making something cool that’s made here in the USA. On another thread here people bitch about SE and other bike companies being made in China etc. Some people on this board here would manage to bitch and moan if my friend Scot Breithaupt was back in charge of running SE again and building bikes and components in the USA. It’s just amazing to me. Now we have somebody here that’s making something even in limited quantities with little or no profit probably for the pure love of the sport and we have to knock them around a little or piss on it a bit because it wasn't made between 1977 and 1984. Truly goes to show you can’t please everybody. The bike is really nice especially the photos of it as a completed show bike or display bike. Looks awesome! First class. It's not really my speed as a collector. Not because I'm not a CW guy, or I don't like Juan or the other guys for trying something. It's just not my style at the moment. I'm more of a 24" Phaze 1 kind of guy. But I can surely sit back and look it and appreciate it and the effort that went into this project without taking a dump on somebodys vision or project. Good job for actually doing something instead of just talking about it. Tim
  6. Jake's Bike Jump Santa Barbara is the best video I have seen in a while. This old school cruiser bike with a book rack and full fenders getting air is a riot. The first time I saw I it laughed my ass off. Reminds me of when we were kids we would jump anything on anybodys bike. Even bikes like this. Amazing.
  7. Sounds good. Thanks for the reply. I know I could pump out the 30 miles round trip. Its my dad Im worried about completing the whole thing. P.S. The event shirts look great by the way.
  8. Gonna give it a go as well. Sounds like a good ride. 14.58 miles one way then come back to where we park the cars? 29 mile ride? Am i reading this map correctly? Thanks, Tim
  9. Thanks, I appreciate it. I figured there was more to it than just a 5" Head tube. Like the brake bridge and other small details to look for. The forks look different to me as well.
  10. Nice bars. Thank you so very much for not calling them "COOKS".
  11. Redline Proline & Redline MXII, curious at what the differnces are between the two models for these years 1979-1980. I'm sure Redline experts and collectors can help educate me a little. Going to start a new project coming up in few months and would like to start my education process before I dive in on this deal of buying and collecting pieces. My first BMX bike was a 1979-1980 Redline Proline that got stolen 3 months after I worked all summer long washing cars and mowing lawns. Broke my heart and pissed my parents off for my stupidity and then spent the next year working and saving just enough just to afford my Cook Bros frame and forks which I still have today. Needless to say but I would like to try and find another frame and fork and rebuild that first Redline Proline bike I had as a kid. But would like to educate myself about that model and year. I only know it was a Proline because of the decals that came with it and the years and frame style. But the two models look similar to me. Any help would be great. Thanks, Tim
  12. If Intense made a 26" x1.75 or 1.85 tire that would be the best choice. Problem I think is that all the 26" tires you find are really for Mountain Bikes not BMX so the Knobbies are huge or what seems huge. If Intense made some I would buy them for my OM and race those rather than tearing up the Comp 3's. Let me know if you find any race knobby 26" tires.
  13. Oh My Gawd! This bike is the Sh*T. I voted for this bike. Absolutely clean OS original build. Nothing REPOP here at all. Amazing attention to detail Claude. I love this bike. Great photos too. Wanna sell it to me? Congrats you earned this one!
  14. Damn this thing really turned out sweet. Congrats. I dream about having one of these PKs one day. Awesome Job!
