  1. Thanks for the continuing education. When everything fell apart the forks were still in place, so only the top end fell apart. Bearings are seated with cap, but there is a thick spacer and a tapered spacer left along with a clamp. The tapered spacer appears to seat in the bearing cap. Still not sure how they should go. So the stem should be down all the way onto the clamp pushing everything together right? and then the cap or stem lock?
  2. My son has a hand me down Redline RL 440 that I am trying to get back up to speed. I'm an old guy so excuse me if I don't know the right terms. His steering stem is quite loose. I'm assuming worn bearings. I tried to get things tightened down before getting the new bearings and everything kinda fell apart onto the floor. No idea on how everything goes back exactly. Anyone have owner's manual for setup? I also don't see how everything gets tightened down exactly. Do I just push everything together and tighten the top ring? Doesn't seem like much leverage there. Would stem locks be a good option and will they fit this bike? Will just any stem lock work? Will most present day aftermarket parts fit this mid-schooler? or have things changed? Help getting an old man back up to speed for his hopeful son.
