Tommy, those were the days! This whole thing with life, work, and kids not letting me have time to play with bikes is ridiculous..... - Bob -
Scot SE slideshow at Rockford
bbohlmann replied to S.Brothers's topic in Riding, Research & Collecting
Rockford 2003 - my favorite. I was lucky enough to be sitting at Scot and Mike Devitt's table. Toby Henderson came in as it all started and sat right next to me (you can see the back of his head in that video). He sat down, turned to me and said, "Hi, I'm Toby Henderson" - I wanted to say, yah no kidding, but introduced myself anyway. I met Jim Melton that night as well. What a weekend. - Bob -
That was Chris Baron in Indy. He's been out of the BMX scene for probably 6-7 years now. - Bob

Rebel Racing - All Things Inclusive

Can anyone help verify / date these cruiser bars? They measure 29x7 and have knurling for the stem. I'm not sure if they are truly Rebel bars or if they are old or mid school. I don't remember where I picked these up but they appear to be NOS.- Bob -
Redline Crank Hardware Advice/Question
bbohlmann replied to getset's topic in Riding, Research & Collecting
I had pinchless flights back in the day and used the square bolts as well. Before the switch, I carried a hex key in my frame pad at all times so that I could tighten the cranks while I was out riding. Be careful not to overtighten the hex bolts. I broke off bolts twice and my local bike shop shipped the spindle back to Redline to have them drilled out (at least thats what I remember - someone drilled them out). The square bolts don't look as nice, but they are quite era correct. - Bob -
Those look great! Are you going to take on building a Floval in the same colors? - Bob

With all the SE items that I had collected over the years, I never owned a looptail PK. I wanted to build one that reflected the 1980-1 timeframe and to keep it simple - something I could have afforded back in the day. I also remember reading the June 1981 BMXA PK Ripper test and immediately having those images burned into my brain. So I decided to build one similar to that BMXA test bike. - SE Racing P.K. Ripper frame - SE Landing Gear fork (early, no holes in the dropouts) - Araya 7x rims - Suzue hubs - Carlisle Aggressor front tire, Comp II rear tire - Takagi cranks, spider, sprocket - MKS rattrap pedals - SE Powerwing bars - Tuff-Neck stem - Tioga headset - Kashimax seat - Tuff-Neck seat clamp - Oakley .5 grips - Team Products lever - Dia-Compe brakes - SE vinyl padset (repro) - 44/16 custom Lightening Bolt plate - Bob

quote name='84profile' date='31 March 2010 - 01:43 AM' timestamp='1270024993' post='410945'] Wow hope you still have that blue Race Inc! Unfortunately, the blue Race Inc. had a blow out and the down tube cracked in half. I kept it hanging in the garage for years, but we must have just thrown it out. You can see in the first racing picture of me, I moved all the blue/yellow parts to the Hutch Pro Racer. Eventually (second race pic) I went with the all chrome Hutch. That Race Inc. was a cool bike. I got the "Race Inc Box Kit" for Christmas in 1980. Here I am powersliding in the basement over the winter when it was too cold to ride outside - anyone else do stupid stuff like that? Although, even when it was too cold, we would still ride outside. Mmmm, JT leathers and hiking boots, great look! - Bob -

I'll play! My brother at our trails by our old house Me at the same trails Gotta love the indoor racing in a giant horse barn Brother at Plantation Raceway in St. Louis Me at Plantation - Bob -
The two sets I have owned were 29x8 and knurled. I've never seen ones that are unknurled. I would be suspicious of Johnny Chopper on those. - Bob

Sorry, late to the post - that's my plate way up there in the first post and the other replies are correct in that it is not a real Haro plate. A few years ago someone was selling "Factory Plates" through a website that looked a lot like the original Haro lightening bolt plates. I emailed the guy and asked if he could do customer colors and he could so I had him make me a baby blue / tan one. I had one of the real black Haro plate covers and it fit pretty well, so I added that to the plate. - Bob

Can your friend convince the CEO to fire up those molds again PLEASE! - Bob -
I have to admit, I tried to watch it and about 45 minutes in I had to switch the channel. I kept checking back every once in awhile to see if there were any good bmx scenes going on, but it is pretty unwatchable. I did like the red, blue, yellow tuff wheeled bikes so you could tell the characters apart though.......... - Bob

Rob - The PK looks great! I am finally building a looptail PK myself - so I'm going to need a lot of those parts back! - Bob
