PK on early JU6, circa Fall 1978

There is a two page add for the transition of the Tuff Neck to the new Pro Neck in the December 1979 Bicycle Motocross Action magazine with a photo showing P.K on that JU-6 but with a Cook Bros. slant stem. -
There is a photo of Brian Patterson on a black frame and fork in a 1984 Super BMX magazine from a race in Azuza.

I rode for Jim and Vera on the Factory team from 1980 to 1983, owned about 12 frames over that time, when to the factory quite a few times.- 10 replies

You can only run head first into a wall so many times trying to tell people who where not around about what is the truth and what is " there truth" they found on the interweb in the past few years.- 10 replies

There are 1981 Black Shadow's marked down in Jim's records as "S" for specials that had the built in seat clamp, all team rider frames. Production frames with the built in seat clamp really started when the Black Shadow was phased out around July/August 1982 and the Shadow frame was it's replacement that came standard with the built in clamp.- 10 replies

This is not very accurate, there's much better information on the JMC owners group page on Facebook.- 10 replies

The most expensive documented sales...

That's a nice comp 11. -
This was taken in late December 1979 ( a few more photo's from this race are in a story in BMX Plus Magazine ) and proves what i've been saying for years, why would the guy the frame was made for be still riding a prototype frame if a production frame was available in 1979……because it did not exist, think about it…….

I was at the show on sunday and almost choked on the air i was breathing when they announced this FAKE had won the pre 1979 class. I paid my $20.00 and entered the 1980-1989 race bike class with a 1981 Chrome JMC Black Shadow which had about 50% parts from from my race bike i raced in late 1981 and the first few months of 1982 with photos from the time plus my JMC factory race gear. The bike was an exact replica right down to black A'ME fini grips, NOS yellow label comp 3's, original Haro series one plate and not a single refinished part and lost to a 1984 JMC Darrell Young that had been done in a black smoke finish and Bullseye pedals made in the past few years…… just like race bikes where in 1984, yeah right.

That's what i saw Steve.

After years of searching I've finally just seen a colour photo of Stu Thomsen's GJS he raced at the end of 1978 early 1979! Blue frame with silver parts.

The most expensive documented sales...
4130only replied to S.Brothers's topic in Riding, Research & Collecting
My reason for saying no was based on what would a guy in Thailand want a bike he would have only found out about in the past few years of the interweb and then when he was over his vintage BMX collecting phase it would be sold on again, no thanks. -

The same guy in Thailand offered me $13 000 for my one owner undamaged JU-6 and my same condition Race inc. drop out and no serial no. P.K. Ripper……….i said no. -
Do you believe in sealed bearings?
4130only replied to S.Brothers's topic in Riding, Research & Collecting
I had 4 sets of Campy road hubs with track axles that i used from 1980 and for the time you could not get any better. But for the past 5 years iv'e had Chris King BMX hubs on my race bike and there in another ball park again.
