  1. thanks! ill give that a try, im not really in a rush, i have other bikes to ride but ive put this bike off since oct and since the weather is getting better thought it would be time to finish it.. thanks everyone!
  2. its one side thats bent but the other side is frozen..ive tried wd and liquid wrench which neither worked, i was attempting a blow torch then i reconsidered that thought and dont want to burn my apt. i might just try and airsaw to cut through it..i can predict spending a good day cleaning these tomorrow, and ill make sure to take some pics also. any recommendation on how to dye mags?
  3. yea, i wasnt going to use acetone but it was the first thing that popped into my mind. i dont know if it makes a difference but theyre skyway mags. i like to restore things to an certain extent most of the time i just try to get stuff clean or to where it works again, im not against spray painting anything but...it was a really bad job and you can tell see drips. im having a real hard time getting one of the nuts off the bolt because it bent, i have spare parts so i was just going to switch them out. would it be wise to just cut the bolt with bolt cutters since its bent? or does anyone else have any recommendations? thanks for the replies!
  4. well...i should just say that i have a not to smart friend who decided to spray paint some mags, needless to say paint got all inside them and even locked the cassette and wont spin and since their not used i guess i can say that i own them. now my question is.. is it worth it to try and save them, maybe cut the bolt and place new cassettes in them and soak them in acetone to get them to the original color then dye them or just say forget it and buy a new set of mags?
  5. ive spoke to a few people at shops and they said that sand blasting doesnt take of the chrome but more or less scratches the surface. anyone?
  6. thats the same reaction that i had. one of my friends had actually said that it worked as he did a test on the handle bars. though i want to dechrome my bike i think id rather pay someone professionally to do it rather then scrub chrome for many hours.
  7. or maybe he painted his jeep to look like his bike.
  8. ^ i dont know about oc but in san diego theres a place called pacific chrome and they charge about 175 for frame and forks.
  9. hi everyone..new to the forum and wanted to see if anyone else has heard about this. ive heard from a few people from other forums (not associated with bmx) that if you soak the chrome in simple green (cleaning solution) for a few hours, then take some steel wool and go at it that it should remove the chrome. has anybody else heard this?
  10. if there still available im in san diego and interested in them! pm me or email me.
