  1. Though originally stamped 500 for the Pacer (1984), the same framesets went on to be used for the 1st gen Super Vipers and 4th gen Vipers, also in 1984, could be either as both those later models were identified by the 'CHROMO MAIN TUBES' on the seatpost tube and 'ABA' on the brakestay.
  2. I think it does say that the commentary came from Sandy on here http://www.os-db.net/pacer%20500%20-%201983.html
  3. chain gaurd tabs mean its a Viper. Nice DB Rip. Dont know about that one.. it is a real crazy bike.. Has the pacer 500 decals and like I said the wierd dropouts.. stamped on the outside and inside. And a loop. ill get some pics when I am at the shop. Yep, that's one of those taiwanese Silver Streak replacements, the 1st gen Pacer 500 released at the back end of 1983. Looks to be in very nice condition.
  4. All the Turbo's were 'smoke', though they shared the same frame as the Senior Pro. I ride a Streak and I know a few people say they are too small but I'm 5' 11" and have no problems. Always nice when another SS is found, a real classic.
  5. Hi everyone, Kurt, Senior Moderator over at os-db.net (old school Diamond Back) has recently investigated the history of the 'Turbo' and produced a compelling article which is located here: Link It will, in the next few weeks sit pride and place on the homepage of the main site. Mark (Admin. Edited for forum policy compliance)
  6. 1F0070 equates to 1-1981, F-Batch, 0070-build number, baseball-Koizumi ....and that visual geometry would make it a Medium Pro The omittance of the hole in the top side of the box section is rather rare and simply a manufacturing error, i'd imagine it still has the holes on the underside? Mark
  7. Approx 1/16th for a Medium Pro or 1/8th for a Silver Streak.
  8. Lovely find. Serial 2K002 baseball equates to 1982 and it certainly looks like a Silver Streak, though you could measure the rear dropout thickness to confirm.
  9. The seat could be a Viscount, I've seen them on ebay a few times How's this: http://cgi.ebay.com/NOS-BMX-BLACK-PADDED-S...1QQcmdZViewItem
  10. Hi everyone, Some of you may know of my reference site that I've been compiling over the 18 months and I need your help. Originally I planned just to have a Silver Streak, (that soon changed) but after scouring the internet and coming across various pieces of information it was evident that there was no concise encyclopaedia and some information was conflicting. (though Ken had started a very good area which I did briefly discussed with him and he has since pulled it). There was also Sandys site, again I was unsure how long this would stay around, there was minimal but excellent info though I have since been in contact with his associate who assisted in the build of his site. My hunger in this area is stronger now than it ever has been and people such as Ken, Kurt and Ramon have been extreamly kind and forthcoming with information, but it can't stop there. My goal is to have 'the' site, dedicated to 'Sandy' and a reference point that all can share, enabling everyone to enjoy whether from a reading or restoration aspect. Though much of the current information is factual, backed up by print, there is also much logic building. So I'm asking for you help. If you have any old documentation, images, etc, etc that you feel might be of help to me please don't hesitate in sending it to me. I can be contacted via my website here http://www.retrobsession.com/contact.html or you can email me direct info(at)retrobsession.com (remember to use an @ in the email). I've also opened a forum which goes hand in hand with my site encorporating a dedicated OS DB section - www.forum.retrobsession.net As the bikes get older, so do we but the information will still be there (hopefully) I thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide. All the best Mark PS - any chance this could be stuck thread
