  1. Awwwww!!!! Your kids are precious.... just look at those smiles.... and it looks like someone REALLY likes pink!!! I think OS BMX Dads are especially aware of the special place bikes have in our childhood memories.... YOU ROCK!!! Thanks for creating some of those memories and for sharing those great pics! Hugs, Michelle
  2. Hi Tom, Mmmmm.... Your Mongoose looks YUMMY!!! It would look right at home on the track 25 years ago! :32: I wanna ride it! Hugs, Michelle
  3. Congratulations! A Quadangle is my dream bike! Race dings are cool.... they're kinda like scars which are waaay cool! If my husband brought home a Quad, I'd bake him a cake! That is, if I had a sweet kitchen and an oven like yours. Then again, I'd probably make a pretty bad wife for other reasons. It does sound like you're kinda livin' on the edge there.... I think your understanding wife is due for some flowers! Hugs, Michelle
  4. Hi All, Thanks for your comments on my 'lil friend! I raced with her for probably about 2 - 3 years, until I was 10 years old and I outgrew her. (That's right around when I got into competitive cheerleading.... that's another story!) I remember her being a very good bike and a reeeeally fast bike. The only parts I recall breaking on her was a brake lever once, when I went down really hard, head-first and cracking my helmet. I used to go through a lot of rear tires though, because I had a bad habit of skidding once I crossed the finish line. LOL! One of my fondest memories with her is of my dad always greeting me at the finish line with "Good job, I'm proud of you," no matter what happened on the track, and the flagman at the track giving me a thumbs up, whether I was in first place or finishing last. Yes, that's a purple Profile stem.... My favorite color!!! Maintaining a very tight BB is important to me and at the same time, a hard ride and being put away wet can be a good thing as long as long as it was fun for all and no rare NOS parts were damaged.... safety first! Hugs, Michelle
  5. Hi All, Well, I dusted her off, gave her a bath and here she is. I have sooooo many great memories with this bike... to me, she's much more than "just a bike." I consider her one of my bestest friends. We learned a lot of lessons together about how parts work and relate to each other, being focused, competitiveness, good sportsmanship and having fun! When she was first given to me, I remembered she looked quite a bit different and weighed a lot, no.... make that a TON more than she does now. Over time my dad and I would change parts here and there in an effort to help make my skinny legs peddle faster. What you see here is pretty much the same race set-up I had BITD. She has some parts that aren't era correct, but I still have most of the original parts she came with. The good news is that my little niece has shown an interest in BMX racing! So hopefully, one day in the not-too-distant future.... among the new school Redline Prolines on the gate, a pony tailed munchkin riding a nickle Minigoose will represent all the OG BMX'ers in a main! ;-) I hope you feel she's worthy of having her pics shown here.... Enjoy! Michelle
  6. Hi All, Wow!!! Thanks for your very warm welcome! It's my pleasure to be in such good company. I have a feeling I've found the right place for tips on fixin' up my old school BMX bike(s). I've had a few BMX bikes over the years and I have a feeling my dad has probably kept every single one of them... well, at least the frame & forks. I don't remember ever getting a complete BMX bike (with the exception of one very cool X-mas). We mostly would 'upgrade' parts here and there as 'tricker' (I haven't used hat word in years!) parts became available... or when I would break or bend something. I've always been pretty much a tomboy at heart, and I enjoyed working on my bikes and didn't mind getting dirty-n-greasy. I get easily bored talking about myself, but here goes... I'm a student. I have 2 part-time jobs. I have a couple of roommates who think I'm kinda nuts for various reasons. I like animals. I can ride a skateboard. I enjoy romance and girly things, but I also like the smell of racing fuel. My dad's idea of spending father/daughter time together was taking me to the drag races with him. I like NASCAR but I'm more of an NHRA type of girl. Regarding my crazy hair style, I've been both 'trimmed' and 'natural' and I like them both. At some point, I'll decide to switch, and I'll break out the razor and do a little weedwacking... or, bushwacking! No need for any concern about me being able to hang with the guys, but thanks! I've been told I have a slightly twisted sense of humor and you'd really have to go out of your way to offend me. In fact, I've been known to laugh at some pretty sick jokes. Oh yeah, I guess some of you have probably noticed I have some exhibitionist tendencies I'm trying to work through also. ;-) Okay, that's quite enough of me blabbering about me... now back to the bikes! I promise I'll take and post a pic of my old Minigoose the next time I visit my parents. I can't fully express how lucky I feel to have found this place. I can already tell there are many way cool folks here! Thanks once again for making me feel welcome and I'm looking forward to joining in on the fun and getting to know all of you better! Peace, Michelle
  7. Hi There! My name's Michelle and I'm so excited to finally be a member here. I'm into anything that goes fast, and I have an appreciation for anything old school: cars, clothes, music, etc... and especially, old school BMX! In case you're interested, my first BMX bike was a Mongoose Minigoose (that I used to race and still own!). I'd luv to restore her someday and I'm sure I'll be asking for advice here. Sooooo, I hope you boys won't mind a girl dropping by here every so often. Don't worry, you won't have to worry about saying anything that might possibly offend me... I think with my current job, I've probably just about heard it all by now! LOL Peace, Michelle
