  1. Hi all It is interesting about the ZT Serial. This proves that the sequence for Month and Year was always in reverse order as worked out previously. The month of build, I always thought was about two months late and as more biked have been found think this is correct. What is missing now though is a Y (Month and Year) Gen 1 Freestyler. Using the two codes for - ZT 0015 F ZT 0019 F We can read this as Z for manufacture date (Month and Year) as usual, we then have the T for Torker, followed by the four digit 0000 build number, with the F. With a Y manufacture date we would know when the serial format was changed and how many of the earliest got manufactured. So, the Y serial, would have a maximum serial of 105 and would either read – YT 0105 F Or would be in the later format (the early bikes here though with the normal serial, are only a three digit build number) – TYY 105 F It would be e interesting if Torker or Haro know of why the serial number format changed. I have only gone through some of the data very quickly, but think there is an error with Gen 2 Master - T 08844541 M This bike has no pictures and has a lower serial number than my July 84 Gen 2 Master which doesn’t add up – typo, or misread serial? http://s191.photobucket.com/albums/z96/Haro_Registry/Gen%202%20Master/T%2008844541%20M/ Thanks all. J.

  5. Hi all I recieved a PM..... Quote I was thinking the other day, when I thought I had found a Gen 1 Master, can you work out how many Gen 1s & Gen 2 Masters were made ? I know there are only 20ish that you know of to still be around, but it would be nice to know how many were made. ..... and thought that this might be interesting to some of you! So, from what information has surfaced so far. There would of been built - 001 to 821 Gen 1 Freestylers. (I need to confirm if 821 is a Gen 1 F or Gen 2 F - but believe it to be a Gen 2 F). There may also be a chance that there where variations of the Gen 1 (but proof is required). So a maximum of = 820 Gen 1 Freestylers There was between the sequence - 821 and 3882 (and not many more as the Gen 1 Master starts soon after) Gen 2 Freestylers. So approximately = 3061 Gen 2 Freestylers There was between the sequence of 3924 and 4599 (and not many more Gen 1 Masters as my Gen 2 is also July) Gen 1 Masters. So approximately = 675 Gen 1 Masters There was between the sequence of 4754 and 5931 (and not many more as production went overseas for the next NON TORKER BUILT Masters) Gen 2 Masters So approximately = 1177 Gen 2 Masters There was between the sequence of 0001 and maximum of 0440 (as the new date code came out for the Gen 2 Sport) Gen 1 Sports So approximately = 440 Gen 1 Sports (Personally I think this could be quite a lot less) There was between the sequence of 0441 and maximum of 0459 (and not many more as production went overseas for the NON TORKER BUILT Sport) Gen 2 Sports So approximately = ?00 Gen 2 Sports (As a guess 200?) Hope this helps. J.

  10. I was given it to look after about 8 months ago, and it was in a real state. It had been left outside for nearly 20 years and was pulled out from under a pile of manure. The skinny Araya's where no longer with the bike or the seat clamp, it had most things seized but worst of all a stuck DX. The chain was rusted solid, and the DX would not move... After it's first wash it had potential - And a very nice stem was under those pads - I put some wheels into the dropouts, just to save any damage (as there are another 10 plus bikes laying around here and wanted it to be at hand rather than in with my storage collection) from wheeling it in and out and to also be able to give it a spray etc and try and get that bl00dy DX out...... The post would not move and finally it came to the crunch, the only way this bike will ever become a ridable survivor would be by cutting the post....so cut it I did, about 1cm above the frame, then a pilot hole (DX are solid posts) was drilled at the same angle as the tube, followed by a larger drill and then a larger drill. Next out with the electric saws and fine blades. I cut at an angle of about 30 degrees and swapped from a Bosch big saw to a hack saw blade near the end (for absolute precision). Next it was out with the Vice Grips, and I squeezed the post together......put some more oil, plus gas etc etc down the sides of the post and then clamped on with the grips and gave it a very gentle twist of about 2mm each way, increasing buy about 2mm at a time until finally it was free. I then used a Bosch lenthening bit and attached a wire wheel and cleaned it lightly inside the frame and put the DX back in. I put in some new tubes, had to cut the palstic outer cable (as the inner was too short - as the brakes were set up for Araya skinnies). Got another nice and rusty old Izumi and took out a couple of links and fitted the wheel with good gaps, sprayed it again and took it for a blast..... It is as quick as hell and runs smooth. I never wanted it mint (or to get rid of the rust) as it has history and was a UK EA race bike and if a full resto was started, it would of been impossible to finish....I doubt i'd ever get another stem or pads etc if any accidents happened. J.
  11. I get many bad comments on this all the time, but still build as original as posible with original stickers and decals, along with scratched and rusty parts to keep the bikes history. This has been a real test of patience and is finally built...... The bike has taken much longer than I ever thought was possible. Nearly all items where seized, rusted and full dirt etc and had to be taken apart very slowly and cleaned, polished etc etc. The Rotor was totally jammed, so had to be stripped and sleves removed, polished and sanded, the brakes were also locked up solid so had to be taken apart and all new parts fitted too. I have come to the conclusion that metal fatigue and alloy are not a good thing to work with......and cabling it all up has taken hours and given me quite a few headaches, as this is the only RGD that I know of fitted to a bike, and I had nothing to work from. However, after dozens and dozens of hours, with sore and dirty fingers, it's all done. The pictures really do not do the bike justice, it looks so good in the metal! J.
  12. Hi all I am trying to work out the serials and codes on MRD's. I would appreciate any information / bikes that you know of. Please post the codes along with a picture as some seem to be in a different order. Can you also measure the top tube too. PM if preferred. Many thanks. J.
  13. Hi It depends what sort of post. If it's a DX the only way I got one out was by drilling it and then sawing it, sqeezing it and breaking the seal, and finally twisting it out.
