  8. copy/paste from Gork FYI -- final results from last weekend's Roseville Vintage gathering. Thanks to all who showed up and made it another successful event. Any ideas you have on how to make it even better next year; are always welcomed. Scott and I hope all of you attendees had a great time and we hope to see you and more of your pristine machines next year! --gOrk -------------------- Roseville, California - 4th o' July, 2009: While some kids were comptemplating how long of a fuse they'd need for their homemade M-80's in order to not blow off any of their fingers, there was something altogether different EXPLODING in Roseville, CA. ... as in a mass explosion of glistening old school BMX bikes! While the U.S. BMX scene converged in Northern California for the next rounds of the ABA National circuit, the Oak Creek BMX track played host to what's become an annual Vintage BMX Show & Swap - dubbed by some as "The Rockford of the West." This year, collectors from as far north as Red Bluff - as westwardly as San Fran - as east as Reno, and as close as Citrus Heights came out in force with some pristine pieces of BMX history . The NorCal collectors were out in force! And it was not only the bikes that were "vintage BMX" - amongst those seen scoping out the 70-some retro bikes were "Crazy" Ronnie Anderson, "Pistol" Pete Loncarevich, Tommy "The Human Dragster" Brackens, John Crews, Cheri Elliott, Dizz Hicks, Kenny May, Wobbly Bob, and one-time Panda welder and founder of Boss Racing - Carlo Lucia. Collectors and spectators were able to take a step back in time and re-live the 1970's and 80's BMX era, and with a ballot in hand were asked to vote for their favorite bikes in each of 9 categories. Later that evening, Redline FLIGHT crank trophies were awarded to the following winners: > -------------------- > > CATEGORY WINNERS & TOP-5 NOMINEES [ listed in order ] Best 70's Bike: > WINNER: '76 G-Boy (owner; Perry Wills) > RUNNER-UPS: > > '79 Redline Microline (owner; Xach Wagner) > '76 DG Racer (owner; Dean DeLocker) > '76 Dan Gurney Monoshock (owner; Jacob Killbourne) > '79 Mongoose (owner; Dean DeLocker) > > -------------------- > > Best 80's Bike: > WINNER: '83 Skyway T/A (owner; Kelly Schall) > > RUNNER-UPS: > '83 Bandito (owner; Ernesto) > '81 SE QuadAngle (owner; Perry Wills) > > '82 GJS (owner; Troy Pelly) > '86 RL 20a (owner; Bobby Oh) > > -------------------- > > Best 90's Bike: > WINNER: '94 S&M Dirt Bike (owner; Doug Williams) > > RUNNER-UPS: > '97 GT Speed Series (owner; Matt Wharton) > '92 Redline (owner; Dean DeLocker) > '95 Boss "Bad Boy" (owner; ??) > '93 Kastan "Squareback" (owner; Marty Wendt) > > -------------------- > > Best Freestyle Bike: > WINNER: '85 Haro Master (owner; Mel Wagner) > > RUNNER-UPS: > '85 Redline RL-20 II (owner: Bobby Oh) > > '84 Redline RL-20 ProStyler (owner; Ernesto) > > SE Quad F/Ser (owner; Perry Wills) > > '85 Redline RL-20a (owner: Bobby Oh) > > -------------------- > > Best MonoShock: > WINNER: '75 Dan Gurney (owner; Jacob Killbourne) > > -------------------- > > Best 26 Cruiser: > WINNER: '80 Cook Bros.
