  1. So that is where all the magic happened? I never added any pictures or even looked for my JMC website. This is so cool! No one driving by now has no idea how much BMX came thru those doors, not a sticker or sign to be seen.
  2. The Book I beyond ready, it would have to be a volume or two (3?) as it stands. I just need a few missing items, and a interview or three.

I know I cant get every single thing in it, and after its published Im sure I will get some items I didnt know I don't have. But I know I am missing at least 2 or 3 things I want to make sure are included. Part is I work 6 days a week usually, part is I get so easily distracted and have been working on some business plans. etc.

  3. How is Pensacola? One of the cities on my watch list.
  4. Hi Dennis. I actually interviewed Jim Melton. I contacted him for the book I'm writing on the history of BMX. (BTW the book is like 600 pages or more so its pretty much done. I just know I am missing a few things so...). Jim told me some good stuff and I posted some of it at my CYC Blog. Not sure If i am allowed to post a link, but you can find it on Wordpress. Some stuff I am saving for the book. Some stuff about those tumultuous times I just can't print lol. Gary Turner did build the CYC Ames Stormer.
  5. Yes because at first I too focused on the cheap dropouts. But I can tell you everything else is american quality, right down to the steerer tube not marked lol. I will compare the tubes to some of my other forks. Again dropouts are junk - but the pencil weld on them is odd and very clean. I think the main tubes are all 4130.
  6. Yeah of course I checked that first, no stamping on steerer tube. Look at the stacked dime welds at the crown. Look at the pencil fine welds at the dropout face. Finally check out the closed end caps complete with a weep hole. I'm sticking to a Frankenstein fork. Frankenstein Forks are a trademark of Monsters of BMX. Trick or Race. Happy Halloween.
  7. My roommate used to have them so I got to ride some rollers back in the day. Be careful, at first they can be tricky and it is very easy to squirrel out. If your older that could really hurt. Like learning how to wheelie. I never got so good at them I could wheelie on them so DO NOT try that the first few times, first hundred times lol.
  8. I know, dropouts for sure are cheap, but i dont think the forks are. Did Wald ever make a 4130 fork? I think this may be a frankenstein fork. The builder used say Thruster fork or whatever and just tried a cheap dropout. I have Thruster, Tange, Redline forks and well a bunch of forks I can compare the legs and fork crown too. Just have to dig them out and I hate doing that lol.
  9. Nope like all the ones that seem to have survived - No decals. The forks are very odd, first they have lawyer holes, but the welds at the fork crown are stacked dime, clearly 4130. The welds on the fork are not, but they are not bubble gum, more like a weld pencil drew them lol
  10. I met and probably had raced the owner (probably at Braddock) in 1981. The frames came out in 1981, I saw Doug on his at Braddock. Think his teammate was there also. I do not remember seeing any in local shops I frequented. But could have been in some just didnt notice, like JV Bikes right next to Braddock. They had tons of stuff. I know I met him, but we didnt become friends so I know nothing about the bikes from him. I am pretty sure the uniforms were mostly Black, Red and White - sorta like Panda colors. May have been a touch of blue, i just do not remember. I just picked one up (from one of you guys?) so I will do some digging. and create a blog like i did for Thruster and a bunch of other bikes in my collection. I am sure I raced him (Doug), I just cant remember the riders names I raced. I have two pictures of me at the Armory and I'm in first, the other from Red Pony indoor I'm in second. The strange thing is the rider in first or second in the two photos is the same racer. You would think I know his name or remember those races. No clue lol. I could have raced Doug and Teddy (his teammate) a few times. I just do not remember who I raced 99% of the time lol.
  11. You eagle eye guys probably recognize the Rumblefish 24, Redline Proline, Torker 26" RRS and can read the Dirt Bros. sticker. The chrome 24" was a rare B.B. Racing bike.
  12. Took the day off work, just got my dinner ticket. I'll be checking things out but not selling. Planning to buy just one thing a Stroker fork if I can find one for sale. Got my BMXA hat already so I will be a test team member for the day, in my mind anyway. Anyone else ever dream of being on the Test Team back in the late 70's early 80's? I even went as far as buying and racing in a MFM jersey. I was so bummed I never got the earlier bright blue and yellow one. Hope someone makes some BMXA stuff one day again.
  13. Great design, dare I say near perfect. You captured the 20 inch perfectly and yet made the suspension look cool. Would be cool to see you do a BMX version of it all these years later. Have a suspension only class at some local trail.
  14. Are you working on the 2022 shirt I wear my 2018 and 19 shirts alot. Great quality shirts if you are thinking about getting any, dont think twice.
  15. Wow Atari that is an awesome build. Makes me want to ride a 20 inch again.
