Agree....1981-1983 were the original, unknurled bars. -

Oakley .5's are my all-time favorite! Nice pics and cool bike, Ely. -
Donnie made me do it! Just kidding Paul. It actually WAS me that banned you. lol. I did not know your screen name/real name. It's being worked on now, so hang tight. I saw the post and thought "Why the hell would someone post this Thailand repro guy shit on this page? I saw the responses and realized that other people viewed it the same way I did....and not recognizing your name....I hit the button.

Go ask on some other website. -
BUMP! I thought I would add these to this thread. These are Chair 1/2" rat traps. They look like the mid-70's KKT B-MX with concave teeth. Check the spindles....a little image of a chair stamped right into it.

All things reproduced

The entire Redline/Kastan thing is such a bummer. Their plan it to team up with the company that is going to reproduce Peregrine mags. Additionally, Redline is remaking single pinch flight 401 cranks, Forklifter stems, Techmatic BB's, and their stated plan is to branch out and begin offering up reproductions of 70's Redline stuff next. -
Reunited, and it feels so good!

Yes...lose the reflector! Sell it for $100 and donate that money to your favorite charity! lol -
I am 95% certain I know what this is but…

Rusty gold! Hi Jason! Cool find...I like the "no brake bridge". -

Great bike Jon. And the two quads, side-by-side, look dreamy! -
Era Correct Reference Thread

Here is something that surprised me....Page 27 of the December 1977 BMXA. There is mention of a new "all round" version of the Oakley grip. This MUST be the earliest reference of Oakley 2's. -
COMPLETE: 1976 Kenny Roberts Grand National

According to a couple other members (Roc and abombone): According to Vance Patterson, Brent was racing a Schwerma Champion frame but they were looking at having a lighter/lower profile frame built and so they hooked up with Kenny. After a few protos were made and things got dialed in, Vance and Kenny disagreed on what the frame should be called when it was to be introduced. So two names/frames were born ...the KR Grand National and the Patterson Sentry. It never came up who welded these frames, but Schwerma was long gone by this point. Who knows the actual sequence of events all those decades ago. -

Sheesh! How embarrassing. I triple checked (or so I thought) to make SURE I didn't make that mistake. Thank you for catching me, and thanks for sharing your thoughts and memories, Scott. He was a bad ass for sure! -
I've had this one in my back pocket for a few months. I picked up an orphan front Motomag 1 last year and set out on a search to find a matching rear. I didn't have a bike to use the mags on, I just knew I always wanted a set. Almost immediately after buying the front mag, this frame and fork popped up. I just had to grab it. I sweet-talked my wife and upped my laundry/cooking game and got the green light to purchase! I found the matching rear Motomag less than three weeks later. I actually built this bike on New Years Day 2022, but I haven't posted it until now because I was not happy with the pictures. It's difficult to photograph this bike, especially with a cell phone. Snow is not a pleasing background to me and drab Michigan winters make for sub-par pictures. So, rather than drag this out any longer, here it is. The pics were taken at various times between January 3rd and March 16th, 2022 - from our basement, our living room, a local parking lot and our backyard patio.
