  1. What about this headtube decal? I saw this frame for sale on ebay last year - did they produce frames with this head tube decal or has it been applied at a later date? The reason for asking is I have one of the decals at home and just want to know a bit more about it.
  2. The scans are from a UK mag BMX Bi-Weekly Vol 3 No. 17 Here is the front cover:
  3. Looks cool - nothing wrong with mixing a bit of old in with the new Here is my 2004 GT daily rider
  4. We had Team Murray's back in the UK in the early days Here is my first BMX circa 1981 complete with Lester mags
  5. I just realised I know very little about Tuf-Neck stems. Just scored my first, this Tuf-Neck Pro Model stem on an 81 GT and was wondering where it fitted into the Tuf-Neck timeline? Also how many different models there are, and how you can date them by shape etc. and which models are rarer and harder to find.
  6. I have a US made Hutch frame without the chainstay gusset behind the BB. The tob tube measures 18" from centre of seat tube to centre of headtube. I always thought and been told that it was just the Junior Racer and the Lil' Holeshot that didnt have these gussets and even though mine has more of an Expert size look to it always thought it was a Junior Racer. However just noticed this on ebay which is described as an Expert Racer as it has not got the gusset!! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...A%3AIT&rd=1 Can anyone help me ID mine (Pic below) - Serial No. starts 064 on inside rear dropout, Brakebridge stamped Western Hutch, Drill holes on rear seat stay/chain stay loops, Top tube 18" c/c
  7. I have had these Hutch decals in my collection for ages. The letters at the top are nice leatherette ones which were used on the race jerseys and pants. I am interested in finding out about the decal on the bottom right which I believe is a very early headtube decal. There was a Hutch on ebay a couple of months back (pic below) that featured the same decal. Is this correct and can anyone shed any light as to what year these may have been on?
  8. Just starting on the restoration of a 1981 Mongoose Motomag. Got one of Bill's repro decal sets and was wondering if I should use the Motomag decal to be era correct for 81? Saw this ad from a 1981 Bmx Plus which seems to show that the Mongoose decal had moved to the down tube and the Motomag decal had disappeared! Anyone shed any light on this ??
  9. Has anyone produced a GT timeline?? Here are a few questions for the GT experts regarding the early 80's race frames that I could do with answering: 1) What year did they change the down tube frame decal from 'Santa Ana' to '4130 Chrome moly' ? 2) What year did the end of the top tube change from the vertical cut finish to the sloping ? 3) I am pretty sure that the sloping end was stamped but was the earlier vertical one? 4) What year did they start drilling the forks? 5) Serial number info for dating and isn't there an additional number that signifies whether it is a Expert or Pro size 6) Top tube lengths c/c for the Experts and Pro 7) When did the holes start appearing in the rear dropouts? Thanks in advance
  10. These decals any good for you on ebay UK?? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GJS-NOS-FULL-F-F-DEC...1QQcmdZViewItem
  11. They sometimes pop up on ebay UK but I doubt it if many made it over the pond
  12. Astro Tim March was one of the best racers in the UK back in the early/mid 80's. He started designing and manufacturing his own superb quality framesets and other products in 83 I think, using Reynolds tubing. The name used for this was MRD (March Racing Developments)
  13. There you go - Maximum Vs Star BMX Shootout from UK Magazine BMX Bi-Weekly Vol 3 No. 17 (Mid/late 1983)
