  1. Getting closer. I stole the handle grips off of my mountain bike for now. Pretty sure I had ODI grips on there before.. might try to find a pair. Anyway the Odyssey Sidewinder is cool. The bike came with gum wall comp III's but I didn't have them on there for very long. I think these fit the bike pretty good. Compact disk..... oh like a CD?? yeah I think I remember those lol I had a Haro 8 ball on there before this one haha. Time for a new chain. I remember blowing out head set bearings fairly often. I swapped in this set from a 1960's Schwinn and never had another issue. Bars are Fishbone and I haven't seen too many pairs out there. I kept hitting my knees on the SE flight bars so I swapped these on. Here's my daughters Redline RL440. I bought it for $25 a few years back. Not sure if it's a desirable model (probably not) I think it's a little too new to have been made in the USA.. Any ideas? Either way she loves riding it.
  2. Awesome thanks for the help everyone. I finally had a chance to work on it again and I'm almost done. So the dropouts on the frame and forks are 14mm but my axles are 12mm. I have one adapter bushing but for whatever reason the other three are missing. Any idea on where to find these or what they're called? I asked a couple of the local bike shops but they weren't much help.. Anyway it's starting to look like a bike again. I'll try to get some pics.
  3. Thanks everyone I appreciate the help! 93 eh?... good to know. A bit older than I was expecting but it sounds right. I'm a bit behind on pics but I finally had a chance to ride it (without brakes and grips) around a bit. It rides and handles every bit as good as I remember---really happy I kept it around all these years! It came with 'Proponent' brakes (a unique caliper style brake shown in first pic) but the frame looks to be set up for U style brakes on the lower bracket. There are no posts to mount them on though so I'm guessing it would use an adapter plate or something to make the U brakes work? Sorry I'm still trying to learn/remember the terminology for all these parts... I think I'll run the caliper brakes for now because it's an easy fix and that's what came on it but down the road I'd like to get the appropriate brake--whatever style it might be--mounted up. More pics to come
  4. Hi I'm Andrew, I've been lurking for awhile and this mid school section really takes me back! I lived for BMX in the late 90's. All day everyday. Sorry for the long post. Here's my PK Ripper. I promised to keep a B or higher average on my report card in 7th grade and did so my parents bought it for me at the end of the school year. It was new but I think it had been on the showroom floor awhile. I rode the wheels off it (literally haha) and swore I'd keep it around in case I ever had kids in hopes they'd appreciate it as much as I did. It's been sitting completely untouched for about 15 years. Well I did have kids and my daughter kept bugging me to fix it up Any idea on the year? I 'think' it's a 96 model. PK3087 is the serial number.. So far I've repacked all the bearings and threw on some Comp III's. More pics to follow.
