We've kind of touched on this topic in other threads, however I'm not sure if we've ever had a dedicated thread to this topic.

What are some of the mythical, possibly non-existent, at the very least lost or incredibly rare parts / frame sets that were either proto-types, or tentative production items that never actually made it into production.

I was discussing this with a couple of our fellow members today. I was having trouble coming up with multiple examples, so maybe you guys can help.

I'm not talking about rare production parts... stuff that was definitely made and put on the market so much as those items that we saw pictured in "new product profiles" but which never really came out, or if they did... we have not seen any examples. Or straight prototype stuff that factory guys might have been photographed using but never came out to the public.

I have one. I'm assuming it was a customization offered by the dealer. I'm forever trying to get to the bottom of the story. The first real BMX I ever saw was my friend Dan's older brother's Hutch junior (or possibly Expert). This was very early on, probably 82. It was a smoked chrome frame set. It was not the later lawsuit mini. That bike left an indelible mark on my brain.

I have Dan scouring his mom's albums for any photographic proof.

Tom broke the frame at one point. He got a warranty replacement. I was disappointed when it was show chrome.

Brand X frame has not surfaced yet. The Ti Herrington Crusader is still around, I think Monocoque Mike knows where it is.
