It was confirmed on Facebook that the rider is Fred Blood.

That's what I thought. It has been a very long time, but it seems I first saw this in Action Now mag.

Wasn't Fred a ripping roller skater as well?

I remember when those knuckleheads went to Europe. I was working across the street from John Sr's shop (Motorcycles unlimited.) when they were getting everything ready for the trip. Hack, spares and other necessities all packed up and shipped out! As I recall the spares included a complete spare race motor as well.

By the way Mel, I want that Yamaha Gold cup ticket! I want it! I want it! I want it!!!!! AAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brian, I was thinking of you when I posted that Gold Cup ticket, I had a feeling you'd be all over it. Property of Mr. Lund - call him!  I'll make sure you get it.

Speaking of their Europe trip and hack tour, I found this next gem at the bottom of the box this morning. The back only has the names "Jerry and Tom" written in pencil. Gnarly berm destroying hack racing, I'll tell ya what!

These are some great photos! What kind of cicle (pronounced "sickle" in honor of the late, great Don Nuse... best friends dad, desert racer and cicle mechanic extraordinaire!) is Thom sitting on?
Pics like these are serious memory joggers from my youth in Lake Isabella, CA.

From the Thom Lund photo archives; a young Thom getting air in a dirt lot in Venice. No date, photographer unknown.

Many of you have seen these photos before in this thread. What you nay not have seen is the name of the photographer who went to the NBA Yarnell Street track to shoot them. I always assumed these were taken by Windy or Bob Osborn as the quality of the prints are well done, but alas, the photographer was actually a Sylmar local.

As a teenager I spent some time on my Dad's 77 250 pursang. I can relate.

The building in the background looks familiar. This is how it looks in the background from the International course.

Sod,

Is that the buidling that was next to the mini bike track (food concessions, restrooms) with the flat track oval to the right? (which could have been seen when the International track ran a GP or off road course, longer using the minbike real estate)

And likely discussed before as I have seen that image, are you driving or passenger?

and of course very cool!

That weekend I was on the sidelines turning wrenches. My partners in crime Tom Elloitt and Larry Fehrnstrom are in the car in this shot. Also my friend Tim Gehring had been giving us a bunch of help with the car around that time so we surprised him by tossing him a helmet and putting him in the co-drivers seat for one of the heat races. I had plenty of seat time in the car up to that point and the look on Tim's face when I tossed him the brain bucket and told him to get in the car was priceless.  :Want:
